Check Out Javonte Green’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Javonte Green.

Hi Javonte, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey started in the same place many of us find ourselves—working dead-end jobs, hoping success would show up without a clear path to get there. Even from a young age, I was financially conscious. I got my first job at 13 and saved nearly every dollar, knowing one day I’d need that cushion to take a leap. At 18, after hitting a breaking point with my hard labor job, I was offered an opportunity in the sunshine state of Florida. Without hesitation, I packed my car, left Maryland, my hometown, my friends, and everything familiar behind, hoping this move would be the beginning of something better.

That job didn’t pan out—but I wasn’t ready to face the idea of returning home empty-handed. I decided to stay in Florida, even with no backup plan, fueled by pride and a quiet determination not to give up. I took on side gigs and kept looking for something that aligned with both my ambition and creativity. That’s when I discovered photo booth rentals—initially just a hustle, but I quickly saw potential for something much greater.

What started as a small service grew into Focus Pocus Productions, a global company rooted in creating high-end, experiential photo booth activations for movie premieres, brand activations and other marketing events. I didn’t just want to provide a service—I wanted to build something memorable, scalable, and rooted in design and storytelling. The plan may not have been perfect from the start, but it’s the commitment to keep moving forward that got me here.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all—it’s been more like an unpaved road with a misaligned car. There were years with zero net profit, times when I went full-time in the business only to have to return to a day job just to stay afloat. Nothing about the journey was easy or fast. I had no blueprint, no one in my family to model major success after—so I was learning, failing, adjusting, and repeating in real-time.

One of my biggest struggles was insomnia—something I still deal with today. I conditioned myself to function on little to no sleep, often staying up all night just researching, trying to crack the code on marketing, gear, pricing, and branding. Early on, I bought the cheapest equipment thinking it would be a smart start, but it ended up costing us more in the long run—slowing our growth and forcing me to reinvest in better tools. Marketing was another beast. I lost thousands trying to figure out what worked, often spending more than I made in hopes of getting it right.

But all of it—every misstep and late night—was part of building something real. Every struggle became a lesson, and each lesson pushed me closer to creating a business that finally reflects the vision I had from the start.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At Focus Pocus Productions, we specialize in creating unforgettable photo booth brand activations—immersive, experiential photo and video experiences that leave lasting impressions and make brands truly memorable. These aren’t your typical photo booths. We collaborate closely with companies to design custom, on-brand experiences that engage their target audience in creative, meaningful ways. From interactive green screen videos to dynamic visual storytelling, our goal is always the same: help brands stand out and be remembered.

One of my favorite examples was for a beverage can manufacturer targeting drink brands at trade shows. We designed a custom animation showing a branded can rolling down an assembly line. At the end of the animation, the booth guest—captured by our camera—popped out of the can with a smile and a gesture, creating a fun, personalized, branded video. It wasn’t just a cool effect—it was a conversation starter, a shareable takeaway, and a memory tied to our client’s brand. Seeing those ideas come to life, and watching our clients light up when they realize they invested with the right team—that’s what I’m most proud of.

What sets us apart is that we don’t just deliver a product—we deliver an experience backed by strategy, creativity, and precision. Every detail is intentional. We’re not just here to impress people—we’re here to make people remember who impressed them.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Ah, the dreaded “favorite childhood memory” question. Truthfully, I didn’t have a childhood filled with big adventures or vacations—but one memory that’s always stayed with me was from third grade. I made the honor roll every quarter that year, and my teacher, Ms. Mobatto, would throw a “Good Job Breakfast” for all the honor roll students in her class. It was simple, but special. We ate well, laughed a lot, and got to celebrate each other.

That 30-minute breakfast became something I genuinely looked forward to. It was one of the first times I felt the connection between hard work and reward. That moment taught me that success doesn’t always have to be grand—it can be a quiet recognition, a small celebration. But it feels big when you’ve earned it. That early lesson stuck with me and helped shape how I view achievement and pride in my work today.
