Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Graham
Hi Josh, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
When I was younger I was very depressed. Although I never took action towards this, I slushed to contemplate suicide. Over everything else, I credit music for really helping me through these times in my life. It has always been a goal of mine to help people in some way with my music. During the start of my project making music under the name Gl1tch, I was experiencing a spiritual awakening, learning so much about other religions, spiritual practices, history, science, etc. During this time I learned about solfeggio frequencies and the general power that sound can have in healing. Immediately this clicked with me and I decided I needed to include these things in my music. It felt like a very intuitive decision for me to program and tune different physical, and spiritual elements of healing into my music. Today I’ve taken lots of inspiration from artists with similar ideals in their music such as Twenty One Pilots, and Lsdream. As well as crazy and unique sound designs from Tipper and his friends. Although I don’t want to credit any artist for using white magick in their music like I do. Simply because I don’t know if they do or not. I have a feeling tho.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The thing about being a DJ and an Artist is we are all looking to do this as a career. But unless you get really lucky super early on, this can take years of doing free gigs and free work just to get exposure. This has been especially difficult in Orlando. Disney doesn’t want Orlando to be know for its art, and the politicians want to end the night life all together to make Orlando more family friendly. This not only hurts the venues, and people throwing events, but because these people aren’t making money, neither are the artists that they are booking. At least at a local level. But despite not making money from my career, I still love to do these things, because it’s not about the money. Getting to showcase my art for others to enjoy is super satisfying and I’m still happy doing it for free. But I can’t do it for free forever.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Right now, for money, I work as a call center rep in customer service. Unfortunately I’m not able to disclose where I work for legal purposes. It’s because of a third party contract, the companies asked to not be publicly spoken about. I am looking to change jobs soon to something that pays more money and treats me better.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is up subjective. For me it has to do with happiness and stability. For my own personal success I also have goals that I am working to achieve. Although I think success can be found outside of my goals, I still contribute the completion of my goals to my own success. If the universe has a different plan for me, that is also okay. Some people think success is money, a house, a family, etc. But I believe if you can be happy with yourself, no matter the situation of your life, you have found true success.
