Check Out Julie Pendry’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Pendry.

Hi Julie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began with an interest in Nutrition over 40 years ago.
I worked in a health food store, then I got my first job working in the office of a Functional Medicine Doctor.

I went on to be a part of a Medical Nutrition Clinic in the New Jersey area as their Patient Education Coordinator

I woked in this practice for several years.
Then I moved to the Orlando Florida area, started a family and once again was offered an opportunity to be part of a Alternative Medical PRactice in Lake Mary in 1998.

I served on staff there for 2 years.
I accepted a postition with a group of Chiropractors and seved in 4 of their clinics as the Nutrition Consultant for their patients.

In 2002 I resigned my position to be more available to my 3 children as the oldest entered high school.
It was then that I realized I could start my own Consulting Practice seeing clients who wanted guidance on how to change their diet and lifestyles to improve their health.

Nutrition Made Simple LLC was established and I had the flexible hours I needed to stay healthy and balanced and still be a part of my kids athletic events and other activities.

I had an office in Longwood, Florida for many years and now currently have moved the office to the Lake Mary area for the past 10 years.

I continue to meet with clients individually to create a personalized plan to help them reach their health goals.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a very rewarding journey, as I gained so much from each professional opportunity, but perhaps the practical experience that raising 3 kids and working gave me some additional insights on how to create healthy meals for a busy family.

I care alot about my work and would say the marketing and accounting have been my least favorite part of owning my own business.
However, I have found and hired good people to support the areas I needed support in.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am unique in that I not only create a diet but work to identify the stress level of my clients.

Creating a way to off load stress or work through any emotional blocks to why someone may not be motivated to be healthy and well.

We are mind, body, and spirit and to address just the body does not give a full whole look at what is holding someone back from enjoy their best health.
I receive referral from doctors who identify patients that want to reduce medications & a more natural approach to their health challenges.
I take the time to look for the root cause of why a symptom is presenting rather than just treating that symptom. It takes more time but ultimately has greater potential to improve health long term.

I build relationships of trust with my clients and often knowing the stress theyare processing emotionally can help move them forward in eating or sleeping better.

I enjoyiong seeing someones lab testing results improve over time and their ability to regain any areas of their health n energy that might have been impacted.

I look for why a client is motivated to make changes…….it is important to understand that change can be hard but once we all have a clear reason “WHY” we want change then the coaching part is much easier and has better outcomes

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I would say I am by nature someone who is rather conservative in my decision making.

However, several years ago, I was given an opportunity to move my office to Lake Mary, closer to where I live.
The rent was going to be double and that was a big decision, however I am so grateful to be in this office.
It is a very nice location with a big window overlooking a park.

My commute is 7 minutes and I can return home for lunch helping me to continue to eat well, prepare my own food and take time out to enjoy the meal without stress.
In the plan for me to continue to work, it plays a big role in where my office is located so that I spend little time getting to work or having to pack lunches so that most of my time and energy is spent doing the actual work, meeting with and working with my clients.

It is one aspect of work to have the knowledge, but I always want to be a model of someone who lives a balanced life and leads by example
