Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Wantlin.
Hi Julie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been hardworking and driven, with a desire to do more. Growing up, my parents owned a pizzeria, and I started working there at just 14. While I always dreamed of owning my own business, I initially followed a corporate path and joined Ashley Furniture when they were launching a new brand with a small team. Although that project was dissolved, I transitioned to the eCommerce division and helped launch AshleyFurniture.com. As the company grew, so did I—every role I held was new, created from evolving business needs and my own drive to take on more. After nine years, I stepped away from Ashley to recharge and later took on an interim role at a startup that was quickly acquired by a major player in the industry. That experience confirmed it was time to pursue my true goal: owning a business of my own. With health and wellness always being a personal priority, I set out to build something that would help the community and make people feel good. As a leader, I focus on including my team, valuing their expertise, and creating a culture of unity to drive success. Inhale. Exhale. Stay well.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t view difficulties as struggles but as opportunities to learn and grow. In the corporate world, as a business owner, and in everyday life as a mom, daughter, wife, and friend, challenges are constant—but they’re also what push us to evolve. If my last company hadn’t been sold, I may never have taken the leap to own The Salt Room Orlando. It reminds me of the Chinese Farmer fable—you never truly know in the moment whether something is good or bad, but with time you see how each experience shapes your path forward.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At The Salt Room Orlando, we’ve built a true community of wellness. Our team of therapists takes a personalized approach, working with each client to create a custom experience—whether it’s focused on recovery, relaxation, or simply meeting you where you are that day. One of our signature offerings is the ability to pair massage therapy with salt therapy, creating a powerful combination that not only eases tension but also supports lung health and overall well-being. We’re also proud to offer one of the only kids’ salt rooms in the area, providing a holistic and natural approach to healing for children as young as one month old. In addition, we offer sauna services, facials, red light therapy, and other treatments that promote balance, renewal, and preventative care. What sets us apart is the culture we’ve built—our clients feel like family, and our therapists bring both expertise and compassion to every session. More than just services, we focus on helping people feel better, breathe easier, and reconnect with themselves.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I like to say the stars aligned when I found The Salt Room Orlando. Before that, I had vetted nearly 300 businesses, but none felt quite right. The Salt Room had been established for 15 years, then changed hands briefly, and when it became available again, it just felt meant to be. Stepping into this role has been the most content I’ve ever felt professionally. Each day brings new opportunities to learn, and I get to draw on my past experiences to help more people discover and enjoy the benefits of The Salt Room Orlando.
