Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayanna Brow-Hendrickson.
Hi Kayanna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As a child, I was instantly captivated by music. When I reminisce, I remember moments where I would take songs I loved and rewrite the lyrics, tailoring them to how I would’ve created them myself. Looking back, that was my first step into songwriting.
For me, creating music became a way to articulate difficult emotions and express feelings I couldn’t put into words otherwise. It became my outlet—my way to heal, to speak truth, and to connect with others who might be feeling the same.
Yes, I’ve heard a lot of “no’s” and had opportunities fall through. But I’ve come to see those as redirections from God—proof that those paths weren’t meant for me.
I take my artistry very seriously, and I deeply appreciate every artist who shows vulnerability through their music and shares it with the world.
Now, I have the amazing opportunity to work alongside and create music with my dear friend and musical genius, GMaestro. I hope one day to work with so many other artists within different genres and just create music that we feel in that moment. The musical gifts I’ve been given are from God, and I want to share them with the world for as long as I’m able.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth ride—and honestly, I don’t think anything truly worth having comes easy. The road’s been full of ups and downs, and there were definitely moments where I felt like giving up. Pouring your heart into a song or a project, feeling that rush of excitement, only to have it not get the love you hoped for—it can be disheartening.
It gets frustrating sometimes. But then I remind myself why I started. I remember how much I love what I do, and that passion always pulls me back. I don’t let the low moments define the whole story—because that’s all they are: moments. I believe in my artistry. I believe in my journey. And I know, without a doubt, that I will make it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I work as a Trust Operations Specialist, and what I really enjoy about my role is being the go-to person for making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. I specialize in processing and maintaining trust accounts, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency every step of the way. People often say I have a strong eye for detail and a calm, steady presence—even when there’s a lot going on.
What I’m most proud of is my ability to stay consistent and dependable, especially under pressure. Whether it’s reconciling data, resolving discrepancies, or helping streamline a process, I take pride in getting it right and keeping things moving. What sets me apart is that I truly care about the integrity of the work I do. I don’t just complete tasks—I look at the bigger picture and aim to make things better, cleaner, and more reliable for the team and the clients we serve.
How do you define success?
For me, success is about setting a goal and refusing to give up until I reach it. No matter how many setbacks I face- big or small- I keep going. It’s not always easy, but I believe that pushing through those challenges is what truly defines success.
