Check Out Kristin Hubbard’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Hubbard

Hi Kristin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It all started with a simple question that forever changed my life: “Can chicks DJ?” That question wasn’t just curiosity—it was a spark. I dove headfirst into learning the craft, inspired by mentors and coaches who helped me refine my skills and find my own groove.

In the early days, it was about more than music—it was about creating moments and proving to myself (and the world) that women could thrive in this industry. Fast forward to today, I’ve built an all-female DJ company, Our DJ Rocks, here in Orlando. It’s not just about bringing joy and connection to life’s most important celebrations; it’s about creating an organization where we can feel safe, seen, understood, and loved.

It’s a place where we’re stronger together—uplifting one another as we chase our dreams and create magic for others. Through this journey, I’ve not only grown as a DJ but also stepped into songwriting and performing as Kristin Lee Music. Every step has been about evolving and showing that you can make magic happen when you lead with passion, love, and a commitment to building each other up.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to where I am today has been anything but smooth—more like a wild rollercoaster with plenty of twists and turns! One of the toughest seasons for me was losing my dad. That loss taught me to cherish every moment, both personally and professionally. It gave me a deeper understanding of why my work matters—because we’re not just creating events; we’re creating memories that last forever.

On the business side, building and scaling a company in a fast-paced, high-stakes industry has its challenges. As a mobile DJ, you’re juggling everything—technical setups, emotional connections, and sometimes even fixing last-minute hiccups (like venues that didn’t plan for power needs!). But every challenge has made me stronger and more intentional about my purpose.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At Our DJ Rocks, we’re more than just a DJ company—we’re memory makers. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate event, or private party, our goal is to create an atmosphere that makes people feel alive, connected, and celebrated.

Beyond the music, we’ve built a company that’s rooted in empowering women, creating space for them to shine in an industry where they’ve historically been underrepresented. It’s about being strong together, lifting each other up, and proving that when you lead with love and passion, anything is possible.

As for me, when I’m not behind the DJ booth, I’m writing and performing as Kristin Lee Music. My music blends my love of storytelling with a deep connection to my roots, bringing people together through lyrics and melodies. At the heart of it all, I’m passionate about creating moments—whether it’s through a song or an unforgettable event—that leave people feeling seen and celebrated.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to lead with love, stay authentic, and never stop learning. This journey has taught me that growth often requires letting go of what no longer serves you to make space for something even better.

It’s also shown me the power of connection—whether through music, shared experiences, or building relationships. I’ve learned that no dream is too big when you show up with heart, hustle, and a willingness to learn along the way.
