Check Out Kyriana Mccord’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyriana Mccord

Hi Kyriana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I was around 11-12 I one day got tired of getting my hair done by my mother. She’d always braid my hair tight and it was never in a style I wanted. I decided to practice on my sisters hair and found that not only did I like it but it was also an escape from anything I was dealing with internally. As I grew older no matter where I was or whatever situation I was in, I’d always find a way to braid. I started charging low prices so that I could always keep money in my pockets and do what I loved at the same time. I knew that no matter what I’d always have an escape and have money because someone always needed their hair done. Even in times I had to take breaks due to my personal situations my loyal clients would always be waiting. Shout out to them. I’d braid my mom, sisters, cousins, and aunts hair all the time. Each yea r id improve, until finally I decided to expand and give my business a name called 0nlykyriibraids. Meaning you’d better your braids done only by me! lol even though im not exactly where i want to be in my business I thank god for where I am now and where’s he taking me in it.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Some struggles I had to face was location, circumstances and moving around a lot.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a hairstylist. I braid hair for a living. Only braids to be more specific. I’m most proud of my progress and motivation to always improve and be better then the last.i think the one thing that sets me apart from others is that I can easily learn new things like nails and lashes.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see myself getting own shop. Actually owning it and maybe hiring people of my own. I’d also see myself braiding celebrities hair and hopefully becoming more known myself.
