Check Out Lashes Lane’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lashes Lane.

Hi Lashes Lane. We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today. Let’s start by introducing yourself.
I started my burlesque journey as a kitten. If you are new to burlesque, a kitten helps stage props, collects clothing between acts, and sometimes even collects tips for the performers. After kittening a few shows, I built up the courage to make my debut as a performer, and after my first show, I knew that this was what I was meant to do. A few years of building my skills had passed, and I decided to brew up some magic. I launched Bad Witch Burlesque in 2020. The pandemic hit shortly after the launch. I quickly shifted gears from producing a live debut show to producing our first digital show. During the pandemic, my coven of Bad Witches and I created elaborate digital shows together, streaming worldwide for fans to view from the comfort of their homes. In 2021 we had our first in-person sold-out show, and we’ve been fortunate enough to have sold out every show ever since.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The pandemic hitting was a huge bump in the road for everyone, including Bad Witch Burlesque. We had our venue/date set for our live debut show, and everything was canceled. The world had shut down, and no one knew when live entertainment would come back. At first, I didn’t know What to do. I wanted to avoid doing anything on zoom because the internet lagging is just too much stress. The thought of producing a digital show was scary at first. The WWE heavily inspired me to do pre-recorded PPV-styled streams for our digital shows. After watching one of their PPVs with all the skits and pre-recorded elements, I said, “hey, we can do a stream.”

Switching gears into a new world of streamed entertainment was something I didn’t expect to do, but it made us stronger as a team. My fiancé Sid Stratton and one of our best friends, Wolfman, helped out as the film/lighting crew for our digital productions. We learned how to build a set with lighting and filming, and I learned how to edit professionally. We turned our home into a production studio for most of 2020 and made fantastic art with the Bad Witches. The Bad Witch Coven genuinely put their hearts and souls into their digital acts; we shot everything like a short film or a music video. We had a blast making all of those digital shows & the memories will last a lifetime.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Bad Witch Burlesque specializes in mixing high-quality, glamorous burlesque acts with rock music! The attention to detail, passion and hard work each member puts into their actions before it hits that stage is something to take notice of. All the Bad Witch Coven members are skilled and talented in their special way, and when we come together, it’s pure magic! The warm energy that radiates from each of these sweet souls is something that warms my heart, from our energy backstage to the messages in our group chat. Each member truly wants to see all their fellow witches soar, and that’s something special. I’m proud of all the passion & love shared in this group and cannot wait to see what each new year brings.

What do you think about risk-taking?
After our second digital show in 2020, I decided to turn our home into a film studio to create a more streamlined look. We spent a lot of time & money on building new sets, equipment, lighting, etc. We didn’t have a background in film, and we had to learn how to do everything in just a few weeks before the next show. It ended up being a huge success, and it was definitely worth the risk! I’m all about making a pros and cons list. If your pros outweigh the cons and your gut tells you to go for it – go for it!
