Check Out Lester Sanchez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lester Sanchez.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started in a local rap group and ended up getting signed about a year after we started taking things seriously, and even opened for 3-6 Mafia at the House of Blues which was a super dope experience. Shortly after, I found out there were some issues at home and I dropped everything and went with my family to Pennsylvania to work with my mom at a warehouse when the group and label was headed to LA. It was definitely a tough time in my life but my family means everything to me so it was a pretty easy decision. After only a few months, we came back to Orlando and I had to restart my life. One thing that never left was the love of music and eventually, it led me to singing as I started to feel disconnected from what the rap culture became.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely was a rough ride as my mom was single and working extremely hard to make ends meet for me and my brother. She came from Puerto Rico and my family back home was in shambles then. We had no help, and I spent a lot of time alone or with my brother. Everybody has their struggles and I feel like it has a lot to do with shaping your story and values.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a singer/songwriter and I’m really focused on timeless music with the emotion being front and center. So much is centered around things other than the integrity of the music and I refuse to go the route of bending my morals to get ahead. I’ve been very locked in with clothing design and my brand “Grounded” and I design, embroider, and press my own clothing and merch. I’m looking forward to growing that exponentially in the next year and building a business that the people that help me can make money off as well.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I definitely learned that my past struggles have made me a mentally strong individual and I was able to really shine during that time. I was also able to readjust my path and really look inward to find out what I really want out of this music game.
