Today we’d like to introduce you to Luis Gonzalez.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Well, My Work Experience Began At The Age Of 16 As I Took Shop Class In My Sophomore Year Of High School.
I Attended Eli Whitney Vocational High School In Brooklyn New York.
I Then Interned Thru A Co Op Program That Allowed My Shop Class Periods To Be Experienced In Real World Job Position.
At New York Upholstery On 33 Hall Street In Brooklyn New York. I Honed My Skills
I Went On To Attend BMCC Community College For Computer Science In 1984.
I Continued My Work Experience At New York Upholstery To Eventually Become Manager Of Same After 5 Years.
I Then Began Taking Work Of My Own.
Using A Sheet Of Plywood On Top Of Mothers Kitchen Table I Was
Able To Cut Fabric And Make Drapery Treatments, Eventually Renting A Space Of My Own In 1990. My Business Flourished In New York For Over A Decade
In 2003 I Moved To Florida And Worked For Royal Upholstering For 10 Yrs. During Which Time I Took In Work As Well As Keeping My Promise To Mr. Roy Marler, Owner Of Royal Upholstering, That I Would Not Become His Competition, I Stayed Loyal To Him Until He Retired.
I Have Since Been Working In My Own Shop As He Was Able To Inform His Clientele Of My Availability.
I Owe A Great Thanks To The Late Roy Marler, A Good Family Man And An Inspiration To All Who Knew Him.
My Years Of Experience In Custom Upholstery and Drapery Fabrication Has Helped Me Maintain a Good Relationship Amongst My Peers and Clientele.
IVe Had The Privilege Of Working With Great People, Endured Tough Years, Yet We Were Able To Endure
And Push Through Difficult Times.
Without Good Peoples Support It Would Not Be Possible.
Im Very Grateful, That A Puerto Rican Kid From The Ghettos Of Brooklyn, With The help Of Family, Teachers And Mentors Can Stand Proud To Be A Part Of The Working Community.
I Take Great Pride In The Custom Pieces We Fabricate Here At Interiors By Lou LLc.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The Year After Covid I Lost Alot Of Business Nearly 40%
I Had To Keep My Crew On Because I Understand That Everyone Has Their Financial Challenges At Home.
So Less Projects Meant Less Pay and Managing A Slow Steady Stream So As Not To Dismiss Anyone.
Powering Through Together, Feeling The Pinch Together!

I Love Fabricating New Pieces Of Furniture Art, Designed By The Great Visionary Designers That I Work With.
Its A Satisfiying Feeling When You Meet Or Exceed Clients Expectations.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Riding My Bike Without a Care In The World, Before Helmets. LOL
