Today we’d like to introduce you to Madlen Koloszar.
Hi Madlen, can you introduce yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Hi, I’m Madlen, and I am an AuPair from Austria. I have always enjoyed working with children, so 5 years ago, I started my education as a kindergarten teacher. My dream has always been to come to America. So I combined that with my passion and applied to an AuPair agency. A month ago, my dream came true, and I flew to America alone for the first time at the age of 19. I’m working for a wonderful family and sharing my life as an AuPair on my Instagram blog.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The arrival was a challenge because it was my first flight alone and my first time in the USA. However, after 2 flights and 13 hours of flight time, I arrived safely in my new home.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
An AuPair is like a nanny from another country. With the difference that I work for the family, I live with. I take care of the children. Play, learn, craft, laugh. Of course, I am also responsible for the children’s laundry, cleaning, and cooking.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you, and are any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
During covid, I was in a boarding school. It was a difficult time, but I learned that everyone is responsible for their happiness and only you can do something about it.
