Check Out Makayla Wheeler’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Makayla Wheeler.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Makayla Wheeler, and I am the owner and founder of MGW Productions.

From a super young age, it was very clear that I would be doing something creative as my career. Many people asked me how I got started with this business…it all began for me at the young age of 12-13 when I took horseback riding lessons on my horse Shotgun. My friends and I would take our iPod Nanos out and capture footage of our adventures. Out of these adventurous roots, came my passion for filmmaking.

Now many years later, my great love for filming has grown into a production company, MGW Productions where I work with a variety of different clients which have taken me to places like Yosemite, California and the Bahamas. I’ve also had the pleasure of work with clients such as Ron Jon Surf Shop and The Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis. Creating is one of my keenest pleasures and brings me joy everyday.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I feel there has been a lot of twists and turns and every step leads to the next step. One of the biggest challenges has just been combating the expectations that I feel are placed on this generation where there’s a lot of stories of instant success and growth through social media or just in general as a business and that is simply not always realistic. Good things take time both in life and in business. I’ve had to learn to navigate the busy seasons where a lot is happening but also the slow seasons understanding that growing a creative business and especially honing your niche and finding your dream clients/projects takes time and patience.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Here at MGW Productions, we are a women-owned and operated, full service production company dedicated to serving those who are adventurous and passionate about the work they do. Our filmmaking and video production is strongly rooted in love for the craft of filmmaking. We enjoy working with others who are passionate about the work they do – the ones who are looking to be shakers and movers, trailblazers and inspiration givers. The ones who want to make the world a better place and create content that inspires and impacts people. We do not churn out cookie cutter videos. We take time to work with our clients to create work-of-art video films that engage people’s emotions through rich visuals and dynamic audio in order to inspire change and results through action.

While we do a wide range of work including weddings, commercial content and documentaries, I’d say our passion is working with creative and lifestyle brands to create beautiful brand films and content. We also enjoy working on adventure/ outdoor based projects for both documentaries and commercial businesses. This could include diving underwater to hiking a mountain and anything in between to capture beautiful visuals.

I’d say one of the biggest things that sets us apart is our ability to evoke emotion in audiences who watch any of our video content.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I’m always looking to work with amazing brands and businesses who need superb video. The best way to reach out is through the website: mgwpro.com.

In addition, people can support and collaborate with me on my Instagram @mgwpro.com
