Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Solache.
Hi Maria, Thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, My name is Maria. I am the owner of GlambyMgs, a licensed esthetician, and a self-taught makeup and hair artist who has been on this journey of artistry since 2019. I started doing makeup on myself first to express my artistry and have fun by watching YouTubers/ influencers doing their makeup and getting inspiration to create my own looks. I then started to practice doing makeup and hair on family and friends and thought, wow, I’m quite good at this. I should make it a career or side hustle. It was a rollercoaster ride with staying consistent and believing in my work and capabilities. I did drift away from this business I created; I became a Mother to my beautiful daughter Natalie, who’s my pride and joy. I then took time off to enjoy Motherhood. If it weren’t for my daughter, I wouldn’t have been the woman I am today. She pushed me to believe in this dream of makeup and hair to make things happen and set an example for her. In the last year and a half, I have hopped back on this journey and been so blessed to have worked with many beautiful clients, makeup artists, and companies. I went back to school to expand my beauty knowledge and still want to learn more. I specialize in Bridal, Quinceñera, & special occasions. I thank every person who believes in me. I love making others feel beautiful and happy for their special moments. No dream is too big or too small. I always like to believe in this saying: el sol sale para todos (the sun will shine for everyone).
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
It has been a challenging road when it comes to creating your own business. In the last four years of starting this journey, I drifted away because I thought I wasn’t good enough; I compared myself to others instead of owning my unique qualities. I became a single mom, which initially made me think maybe I should stop believing in this dream, but then I realized I shouldn’t. I have a little human believing in me and should do what makes me happy. It’s always a battle between myself. I know what I can do if I do the work.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in doing makeup and hair styling for Brides, Quinceñeras, and any other special occasion. I work with a lot of the Mexican community. We love to throw parties for every occasion, so we always go out with decorations food, and looking our best. I am blessed to create timeless looks for my clients. I love to make them feel beautiful and enhance their natural features. I love creating content and inspiring others with my artistry. I am most proud of my ability to be artistic and creative and add a little flare of who I am to every look I create. What sets me apart from others is that I can be versatile. I wouldn’t say I like sticking to one category. I admire every form of makeup and hair and love to show it in my work.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you, and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Yes, with COVID-19, I learned a lot about my health and others; during that time, I took a break from my business as it wasn’t safe to be near others. I appreciate the fact that we are somewhat back to normal, and it has just made me more OCD when it comes to sanitizing all my products and applying safety measures whenever I work with clients.
