Check Out Marijoe Brown’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marijoe Brown.

Hi Marijoe, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
What’s up, guys! My name is Marijoe Brown, and I am originally from Ellenton, Florida. However, I moved to Orlando 8 years ago. I love dancing, drawing, running, going to the beach, playing video games, making people laugh and smile, and inspiring/motivating others to be great. I am also an anime, superhero, Star Wars, and Jesus freak.

To begin my story, I come from a line of entertainers, and I was a pastor’s kid. My parents got divorced when I was a young age, and my life changed completely. I hopped from house to house and didn’t settle down until I was 14. In between this, I became very suicidal, depressed, angry, addicted to pornography, and very insecure about myself. I dropped out of school for two years when I was homeschooled (was homeschooled most of my life until I hit high school) and cut off my relationship with Jesus. However, at age 14, Jesus saved me from ending my life and gave me purpose/new perspective on life through others He brought along my path. From there, I regave my life to Him. Since then, life has been a grand adventure that I enjoy exploring.

From there, I got my life together and went back to school. However, I went to a private school called Hampden DuBose Academy. I went from a middle school student who had Cs & Fs to becoming an A’s & B’s high school graduate with honors. Additionally, I went to college at Full Sail University to get my Bachelor’s Degree in Science: Computer Animation and graduated with honors. I was one of the top students in my class. I am the first to graduate high school without a GED and the second person to have a bachelor’s degree in my immediate family.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My life hasn’t been an easy one. Prior to what I said before, I have dealt with depression, insecurities about my weight, and suicide. I wasn’t confident in who I was and degraded myself a lot. I was my own worst critic.

When people hear my story, they always tell me that they would’ve never known that I went through those things, since I am always smiling and laughing.

I do regret certain things that I have done or gone through, but If you’ve asked me if I had been given a second chance to do anything differently, I wouldn’t change it for the world. The past is the past, and we can only move forward, forgive ourselves & others, be less hard on ourselves, and learn from it so we don’t repeat it. I wouldn’t be the person that I am today if it wasn’t for those things. I am stronger, wiser, more mature, bolder, cheerful, and free because of it.

Amongst the pain, heartache, betrayals, hardships, and circumstances throughout my life; I am still standing, fighting, laughing, smiling, and believing/striving for greatness. Overall, without Jesus & His love, grace, forgiveness, compassion, healing, and hope, I wouldn’t be the person I am today, met such awesome people, and still living to tell my story.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I am someone who enjoys taking on challenges and risks, and I approach them with great care and consideration. Others have commended me for my fearlessness and willingness to tackle tasks that others may shy away from. I am often the first to embrace new ideas and approaches, even if they come with a degree of uncertainty.

One story that illustrates this occurred before I attended Full Sail University. I faced a significant financial barrier that made it seem unlikely that I could pursue my education there. Despite doubts and naysayers, I decided to take a risk and apply anyway. With faith and hope, I was eventually awarded numerous scholarships that covered the majority of my tuition. This experience taught me that risks are often accompanied by great rewards and that taking a leap of faith can sometimes lead to unexpected opportunities and success.

Overall, I believe that taking risks is an essential part of personal and professional growth. Without risk-taking, we limit ourselves and our potential. Of course, risks should always be calculated and well thought-out, but it’s important to be open to new opportunities and experiences that may have an element of uncertainty. Taking risks can lead to success, learning opportunities, and personal fulfillment.

In fact, some of the greatest achievements in history were the result of individuals taking bold risks. Ultimately, I think that risk-taking is a mindset that can be developed and nurtured over time, and it’s something that I am committed to embracing in my own life and career.

There are three sayings that I always say that I will leave with, “It’s the little things we do, that changes the world,” Never give up, no matter the cost,” and “Always remember to be awesome and be you.”
