Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Greener.
Hi Mary, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I started photography back in my high school days. Back then I would take photographs of mainly landscapes and buildings. Once I had my children I started taking their pictures but nothing too serious. When I started coaching all-star cheerleading I would take photographs of my cheerleaders and they would encourage me to put my work out there. That was the biggest hurdle was having someone critique and view my work. Though out the years I have photographed everything from weddings, to couples, to babies, to children.
You name it I have photographed it at some point in time. About 5 years ago a really cracked down and try to figure out what genre really means the most to me. I love photographing women. So I now say my specialty is women from all walks of life from maternity to motherhood, and beyond. As women, we tend to look in the mirror and pick apart the very first thing we see and I’m here to counteract that as much as possible.
Women come into the studio and say “Wow, I didn’t know I could look like that” but that’s what I envision when they walk in the door. From the start of a session to the end, I love helping women feel empowered and beautiful.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Oh no not in the least bit. Not only being a photographer but learning to run a business is extremely hard. I pride myself in creating an amazing experience from start to finish so I am doing everything in my power for every client of mine. I pour hours into each session on top of running the back end of the business.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am known for making women feel confident, beautiful, powerful, and on top of the world. I specialize in Maternity, Motherhood, and Boudoirs.
What sets me apart from other photographers is I go out of the way to provide a unique service like no other from styling, wardrobe, editing, customer service, products, and more. I also have been in every aspect life could throw at you so I can really relate to my clients on a personal level.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I feel with being a small business owner you are constantly taking risks. From where to market, to what to invest in, education, and beyond. Owning a small business is a constant roller coaster but one I am so glad and happy to be on.
