Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Wenhold.
Hi Melissa, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I developed the concept of Earth Girl after hosting a Baby Sprinkle for my best friend. We wanted to have an at-home spa day for her, but when I started looking at the ingredients of the spa products in stores, I was alarmed. I decided to create my own spa recipes for her Sprinkle, and they were such a hit I started developing Earth Girl.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In my opinion starting a small business is never a smooth road. If you are expecting it to be an easy path, then starting a new business is the wrong journey for you! My biggest struggle has been time and resources. If I could clone myself that would be amazing! It can also be a challenge making /selling all natural, organic products with the FL heat.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve always known I would become an entrepreneur after growing up watching my grandfather start and run his engineering business. My background is in Marketing, and I have another small business, Beeline Marketing Solutions. This is both a blessing and a curse as I’m often so busy marketing others I don’t often have the time to market myself! I have been working for myself since 2010. I’m a bit of a perfectionist which is a benefit to my clients and customers alike!
I am currently focused on developing new products and launching our new line of products for men. I also have a strong passion for helping animals and the environment. We recently started fostering dogs for The Pixel Fund, which has been so rewarding already! All of our products are organic, vegan, and cruelty-free with a focus on being as eco-friendly as possible.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Social, outgoing, active, “spirited”. Growing up as an only child my friends have always been very important to me. I originally thought my career path would be in law but am elated with the path I have taken!
