Today we’d like to introduce you to Michaella Drake.
Hi Michaella, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Ever since I was a little kid I loved Disney so in 2020 I created a Disney Instagram account. It wasn’t much and I only used it to post pictures from the parks. In April 2020 my dad lost his job and I temporarily moved to Florida until he found a new job. For 11 months I lived in my grandpa’s office and Disney quickly became a lifeline for me as I was facing the unknown. I started going to Disney more frequently (since I no longer lived in Cincinnati) so I posted much more on my Instagram. Over those 11 months I fell in love with sharing the Disney magic. I started focusing all of my effort into my account and I couldn’t be happier with where I am. Now I have moved to Florida permanently and I am trying to make a living as a Disney/Content Creator!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely was not a smooth road. Last year I had a tendency to compare myself to other people whether that was they have more engagement than me or they have better clothes than me. I soon learned that I don’t have to be exactly like everyone else for people to love me and that they would love me for who I am.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I focus on posting fun and positive Disney content on Instagram. I love posting my different outfits from the parks but keeping all the outfits comfortable for a long day at the parks. I also post about Marvel, Star Wars, and Harry Potter so there is room for everyone!
I am definitely proud of the positive environment I have created on my account. It is a place where everyone is welcome and heard and we can share our love for something without fear of hate or judgement!
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Yes! Every week I lead worship at my church! Leading worship and my friends at my church really help me be the best possible version of myself!
