Today we’d like to introduce you to Nosym Tillmon
Hi Nosym, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Nosym (Pronounced NAHH-SEEM) (AKA Noss Santana) was born May 7, 2000 in Rochester, NY to Brion Tillmon (Sanford, FL) & Monica Bain (Rochester, NY) .His father Brion, also known as “DO1” (Da Original 1) always had a vision of his son taking the mantle of being the family’s emcee, but we don’t think he truly knew it would go to the extent it is at now.
Having his first ever performance at the “Peace Fest” hosted by PATHWAYS TO PEACE, a community-based organization in Rochester that focuses on spreading love, peace, and positivity throughout the city, Noss set his mark as “LIL SWAG”, in which he has a 3 – 4 year run of performances and appearances, even being called to audition for AMERICA’S GOT TALENT around age 7, landing top 3 in competitions that were 18+ in age, yet had him on the roster as the exception for his words and messages. He even has a YouTube video which acquired over 1k views when YouTube first ever came debuted under “Lil Swag KidPro” as evidence! (Go take a look when you have time!)
In 2010, Nosym’s parents faced a split that was detrimental to the elevation of his career. Real life set in, and he had to put his music to the side to focus on finishing school, being an activist, and also being an older brother, an uncle / Godfather. He rebranded himself and even wrote his first rap at age 10 without his father’s help! He then went onto performing in competitions and performing on even bigger stages and platforms, while also taking his talents and venturing into the programs “In Control” & “The Center for Teen Empowerment” to change the negative narratives and situations happening in his hometown for the youth and the elders that also occupy it besides himself. Noss learned how to host his own events, work together as a collective with others to build talent shows, open mics, and back-to-school / end of school block parties, and even how to network and get into rooms that our people would be usually stereotyped in / out of. While doing so, he still took time to connect with others on a deeper level, creating unity and safe spaces among groups of people that wouldn’t have even though to look each other’s way or have a conversation with one another.
Now being 24 turning 25 on May 7, 2025, while also expecting his first child, his daughter Kirria (Kuh-Ry-uh) “Tachi” Tillmon, Nosym is focused and producing fire more than ever before. Becoming a RAPPER, PRODUCER, ENGINEER, GRAPHIC DESIGNER, RADIO SHOW HOST, VIDEOGRAPHER / DIRECTOR (basically his own manager), having 24 albums/eps/mixtapes released, with over 100 singles / remixes, about 40-50 music videos (some he’s even shot and edited himself or with his wife & family), Nosym has ORGANICALLY (never bought views, fans, etc.) accumulated over 32 MILLION streams and impressions across ALL SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS AND DSPS, and it’s evident that he has reached /saved plenty of souls globally with his music / messages from New York, to Florida, Mexico to the UK, Jamaica, Russia, Brazil, etc. His town painted him on a mural that is still up to this day and even able to be seen on Google (search: PYTHODD TRIBUTE MURAL ROCHESTER, NY) for his contributions and talents / hard work towards change and bringing back a movement of being yourself and unifying as one people to achieve common goals. He also still visits his second home of Sanford, Fl, sometimes where some of his Father’s side of the family is rooted, to visit his aunties, uncles, cousins, and extended families all over the huge southern state.
Keep your eyes and ears open for this artist! He may be up and coming to a mass of people but in reality, he has 20+ years under his belt as a young artist / entrepreneur, and his flame will only blaze higher. His hunger will only grow more, his knowledge will only exceed yesterday’s knowledge, and he is a force that cannot be halted by any means. When the world catches on to what he is doing and what he stands for, he will be, for sure, a timeless household name for generations to come.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road will never be smooth, at least staring out anyway. Somebody had to make the cement, somebody had to make the blueprint, lay the cement out and smooth it into a road for others to travel on. You have to be the one to do all of that on your own road, that’s why they say you’re supposed to fall in love with the journey instead of being overly obsessed over the destination. There were nights I lost sleep because I set a personal deadline to release my music for my supporters to enjoy, to possibly save a life, and sometimes I failed, and it killed me inside because as a man our word is everything. Writer’s block is another huge one. I’ve seen so many songs being released around me and I’m super consistent, I’m talking release every Friday or every other Friday 2-3 albums or projects a year consistent. but still feel I’m falling behind or I’m being outworked, knowing I’ve produced enough work to take a 5-year hiatus and still have up-to-date music. Not to mention, getting over these things, finally releasing, and my numbers look horrible, or my music isn’t touching over 1-10k views, likes, reactions, just being looked over and underappreciated, and not having the money to always travel or buy marketing / promotion consistently in order to truly elevate and excel yourself to the next level. Not having VVS jewels to flex with or extravagant shit to flash because that’s all people really care about nowadays anyway, a big popularity contest and everyone worried about what the next person has or is doing rather than really forming their own opinions or doing their own things in life. Not being able to shoot a music video every single day but you have over 200 songs and it’s fun, like you really take pure enjoyment out of being in front of the camera doing music videos or even vlogging / streaming. It gets treacherous for sure.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in being true to who I am, and that’s what I take the most pride in. I am a man first, humble child / servant of God. I am a father. I am a husband (not yet married, but you know the vibes lol). I am an uncle, a Godfather, a brother, a cousin, a friend. I am a rapper, a lyricist, a poet, a world therapist, I am a beat producer, I am a music engineer. I am a radio and live show host. I am a manager, a business owner (NOSSWORLD / 5IVE-7EVEN ENT.) I am a hustler. I am an activist for black people as well as all people, for unity and positivity. I am a leader. a motivator. An inspiration to generations before and after me. I am a bridge to lifelong connections and families formed to this day. The bridge connecting the OG’s and our YN’s. I am NOSS, there is truly (N)o (O)ther (S)oul (S)imilar. I am NOSYM, and (N)o (O)bstacle (S)hall (Y)ield (M)e, EVER. (Go check out NOSS: No Other Soul Similar on all DSPs right now! “NOSYM: No Obstacle Shall Yield Me” drops May 7!)
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Staying authentic / genuine / honest to self and with self when I’m in this world has to be the most important quality / characteristic to my success, I mean, really to anyone who really wants to be successful. When you remember where you came from you remind yourself of where you’ll never go back to, and how many people are looking up to / at you as the example of not being a product of our environments. We come from nothing, abandoned houses on the blocks, people stash drugs on our lawn, cops and people getting shot and killed right outside our crib where our young rest their heads, people we grew up with! We come from trauma, heartbreak, just a bunch of negative things that we all wake up and fight to overcome. The best thing to do is to is stay true to self and never let anyone change you, you have to be the positive change you want in life.
