Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Stuart.
Hi Olivia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
While in college, I worked at a boating store as a cashier. While at work, mega yacht owners would come in and showcase not only their luxe vessel but also the captivating locations in which they docked. Me being me, I always paid more attention to the gorgeous water and beaches they docked in more so than the multi-million dollar yachts, dreaming of swimming in the crystal clear water of the Mediterranean. Fast forward to today and I can now say that I’ve been to those same locations I used to dream about thanks to the power of social media and content creation. I quit that job and booked a flight to Tokyo, Japan which is where it all started…And I can’t say that cashier job was all so bad since it’s where I met my incredible fiancé who helps me run my business. When I took my first trip abroad to Japan in 2017 with my brother, I fell in love with the excitement and joy that experiencing other countries brought me. In that moment, I knew that I had to share the beauty of the world with people. If someone couldn’t travel, my goal was to show them as much as I could so they didn’t feel left out and could still experience the unique foods, cultures, and environments that I visit from the comfort of their own home. I decided to start a YouTube channel “Jetlag Liv” dedicated to showing people the countries I visit, travel and money-saving hacks I use in order to travel frequently, and daily life of someone who is just in love with traveling and the adventures travel has provided.
This online persona of “Jetlag Liv” has flourished into a multi-platform brand that showcases travel and lifestyle content while having fun and encouraging others to live their best life. I wake up every morning and look forward to the connections, places, and experiences social media content creation has brought to my life and cant wait to see where Jetlag Liv will go in the future.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Fortunately, I have family and friends that have been supportive for my decision to chase after this digital nomad lifestyle and it has been a smooth road. The most difficult decision I’ve had to make thus far was the decision to stop going to college after obtaining my A.A. degree due to the fact that I couldn’t find a major/subject that inspired me more than traveling did. I love learning and I have loved school my entire life so this was a difficult decision but I knew I had to make it since I was able to learn more about myself by way of life experiences abroad.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I create entertaining, inspiring, and informative content on Instagram and YouTube. During COVID when travel wasn’t possible, my fiancé, Seth Frierson, and I converted our own Ford e-150 into a camper van and used it to go on the “Florida Beach Tour” which has two seasons on my YouTube channel. We toured around some of the most popular beaches all over Florida and reviewed them to “find the best Florida beaches so you don’t have to”. I am so proud of not only the Florida Beach Tour but the van build/conversion itself which is also its own series on my YouTube channel. I am known to be very positive and relatable which I thoroughly enjoy because it cultivates a great environment for my audience and creates a tight-knit, highly engaged audience. Above all else, it’s important to remember I am a regular, down-to-earth girl regardless of how large my audience gets.
What does success mean to you?
Success is defined by happiness. If I can look inward and am completely satisfied and content with what I’m doing in my life then I have been successful. If I’m doing something that doesn’t truly make me happy then I am not succeeding in my life and will change it accordingly. Happiness is the fuel to my fire and everything I do relates back to the basic question of “does this make me happy”.
