Check Out Olivier Duret’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivier Duret.

Hi Olivier, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Started music professionally very late but I’ve been singing since I was a kid, to the point of being thrown out of class for it. I started singing in front of a crowd with my friend Mikaben on his acoustic/live events as a teenager, but always more for the fun of it. It’s not till I moved to Miami for college that I got my chance to be in a huge band called T-Vice, where I spent almost ten years singing konpa music but in my own style. From there, I left to do my own thing and today, I can proudly say I am a solo artist releasing my own music but hopefully bridging the gap into the American market soon.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, I don’t think anything is ever smooth when it comes to work; there were ups and downs. The struggle besides the tough performances in Haiti and other countries, the traveling, dealing with certain characters, I feel was more about ME, making a decision to stay where I was or leave, took a while.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an artist, a singer to be precise. I am mostly known in the Haitian industry for my style in music and my voice. I am proud of making music that people enjoy and find themselves in. proud to have written the script of one of the best Haitian music videos. What sets me apart is my versatility, whether in music or script, style.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I would say Mikaben deserves credit for pushing towards music, probably might have been doing a 9-5 right about now, lol and the next person would be my mother, always pushing me to sing and learn and doing better.

My brothers for always supporting me.
