Today we’d like to introduce you to On The Go Frenchies Andrew Sankovich.
Hi On The Go Frenchies, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
On The Go Frenchies started with me wanting to take photos of my First French Bulldog (Obiwan The Frenchie) and post them somewhere for friends and Family to see. I have a Career as a Director of Photography at an Advertising Agency in Orlando so I wanted a space that I could have fun and full creative control of the content that I create. We started only posting to instagram and when more and more people started following us we decided we wanted to make videos as well, so we just recently expanded to YouTube. We have so many plans to come for our channels and we love sharing our two pups Mimosa (Cream Frenchie) and Gizmo (Red Fawn Frenchie) adventures with the world. My Wife (Emmie) has supported me every step of the way with this new dream of making a brand around our dogs and us.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No it has not been a smooth road so we did start posting under a different channel name my first French Bulldog (Obiwan_theFrenchie) we were just starting to make videos for youtube and one day while filming a GoPro Dog Harness Video at a dog park. Obiwan was attacked attacked and bitten by another dog shortly after arriving to our emergency vet he past away. We were devastated. Obiwan was more then a pet to us he was my best friend. We obviously stopped posting and filming for a long time. At this time we had Mimosa and she struggled with the lost as well of her best friend too. When we let our audience on Instagram know what had happened it was unbelievable. I could have never expected the people that Obiwan had brought into our lives. This community, our fans are the most caring and supportive people out there. Most of them understood how we were felling because they all have dogs that become family members as well. Without our fans I don’t think we would have continued, but after a year we decided to continue post the videos we had shot before Obiwan’s passing and the most difficult struggle was changing our channels name. We still own Obiwan_thFrenchie in his memory and he will never be forgoten.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
So I am a Director of Photography for an Advertising Agency here in Orlando and I have a degree In Film from Full Sail University. I have also worked Freelance jobs over the past 11 years for compainies such as the Golf Channel, The Grammy Recording Academy, and UBreakIFix to name a few. Filming everything from Interviews, Live Events, Music Videos, Commercials, Short Films and much more. I have always loved Film and Photography so that’s why I was instantly drawn to posting pictures of my dogs. It has become a passion project of mine. Lastly what I think sets us apart from others is our love for our dogs above all.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something surprising that most people that know our brand might not know about us is that both my wife and myself work full time jobs outside of trying to maintain this ever growing Brand of Onthegofrenchies. Working 40 plus hours a week and then using every hour of free time to create new content has been challenging for us, but we definitely have fun making content specifically the smile we get when we post a funny reel or cute photo to instagram or a youtube video on how to make a dog friendly Pumpkin Spice Latte. We hope our fans don’t think we are just being lazy and not posting daily.
