Today we’d like to introduce you to Paulo Pinto.
Hi Paulo, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Born in Brazil, I relocated to South Florida at an early age. I was heavily influenced by the South American community and able to enjoy all the diverse cultures Florida has on offer. Since a young age, I was attracted to cooking and have always enjoyed helping my family with food preparations. As a young adult, I had the opportunity to move to London in the United Kingdom. This offered me the opportunity to not only enjoy all the local and immigrant cuisines in London but to also travel to over 25 countries around the world.
During these trips, I was always in search of new foods and flavors. While working in a wide range of jobs, I was never far from the kitchen. Since moving back to Florida in 2015, I’ve had the chance to work for local restaurants and began to educate myself in food, nutrition and climate. As my knowledge grew, I became more interested in plant-based diet and what benefits it has. This led me to take a chance and start a plant-based catering business of my own.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s never a smooth ride. During this period, we’ve had to deal with financial constraints, employment difficulties, among other day-to-day personal and business struggles. Along with that comes the lack of customer knowledge and hesitancy with plant-based diets.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Cooking, manipulating ingredients, feeding and providing nourishment brings me joy. I’m always in search of new flavors, techniques, and experiences that enhance our relationship with food. I’ve been able to bring a fusion of Middle Eastern, Asian and Latin to Orlando. I’ve been very fortunate to be able to create my versions of traditional food found across the world. We have been able to bring Falafel a very popular street food found across the Middle East and other countries. Creating our very own from scratch recipe, which has become famous in Orlando.
What does success mean to you?
By the positive impact, you have on others around you. By improving what is within your ability.
