Check Out Rebecca Kames’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Kames.

Hi Rebecca, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into photography started with a love for capturing meaningful moments—something that’s always been close to my heart. I grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and pursued my education there at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design majoring in photography, which really helped shape my approach to visual storytelling. That foundation, combined with my passion for creativity and connecting with people, naturally led me into photography as a career.

Over time, I began building my business from the ground up, offering everything from family portraits and senior sessions to weddings, branding, and food photography. I’ve always been very detail-oriented and personable, and I think that’s made a big difference in helping clients feel comfortable and truly seen during their sessions.

A few months ago, my amazing husband and I decided to trade snowy winters for sunshine and made the move to Florida for a warmer, better life. He’s been such a huge supporter of my business, and now we work together to offer beautiful $5K wedding packages that include photography, catering and venue that are both comprehensive and personal. It’s such a joy to work alongside him and bring so much value and care to couples on their big day.

In addition to running my business, I also teach photography through the Orlando Photography Group, working with students of all ages and skill levels. Teaching has been incredibly rewarding—I love helping others grow their confidence behind the camera and find their own creative voice.

And of course, I’ve been a lifelong Disney fan, visiting since I was 11 months old! That magic and sense of wonder has always been a big influence in my life and work. Every step of the journey has brought me closer to where I am today, doing what I love every single day.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all—and I don’t think it ever really is when you’re building something from the ground up. Being a photographer and entrepreneur means wearing a lot of hats. I’m not just the person behind the camera—I’m also the marketing team, the communications director, the billing department, the social media manager, the editor, and the customer service rep. It’s a lot to juggle, and getting clients is definitely no walk in the park, especially in a competitive industry.

What’s always kept me going is the experience I strive to create for every client. My biggest goal is that people walk away not only loving their photos but remembering how they felt during their session—comfortable, seen, and valued. That kind of experience builds trust, and happy clients often become repeat clients. There’s nothing more rewarding than that.

I had a very successful photography career in Wisconsin, where I built a strong reputation and client base. But after years of growth there, I decided it was time to challenge myself and make a big change. and while I knew it wouldn’t be easy to move a business across the country, I also knew this was where I wanted to be.

Rebuilding in a new state comes with its own set of challenges, but I’m grateful for every step of the journey. It’s taught me to be resilient, adaptable, and always open to growth. I’m excited for what’s ahead, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I own Kames Photography with a passion for capturing genuine moments and telling meaningful stories through my lens. I specialize in a wide variety of photography services, including family portraits, high school senior sessions, weddings, food, and branding photography. One of the things I love most about my work is the diversity—I get to connect with so many different people and help them preserve some of life’s most important memories.

What I’m most known for is creating a warm, personal experience for my clients. I’m very detail-oriented and truly care about making people feel comfortable in front of the camera. It’s not just about taking pretty pictures—it’s about creating an experience that feels easy, natural, and enjoyable. That connection and care shine through in the final images.

What I’m most proud of, though, is being a part of so many people’s stories—creating images that will outlive me and continue to mean something for generations. I’ve watched students celebrate their graduations, seen grandparents surrounded by their entire family during reunion sessions, witnessed couples say their vows in front of loved ones, and documented the evolution of small businesses through branding and product photography. It’s incredibly humbling to know the moments I capture will be looked back on long after the shutter clicks.

What sets me apart is that photography isn’t just a hobby or a side gig for me—it’s truly my lifestyle. I live and breathe this art. It’s what I think about and do every single day. I’ve studied, practiced, and poured countless hours into refining my craft. Every session, every edit, every detail is approached with intention and heart. That dedication and deep-rooted passion are what fuel the quality of my work and the connections I build with the people I photograph.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was an only child, so imagination was a big part of my everyday life. With it being just me, myself, and I most of the time, I learned to entertain myself through creativity—whether that meant making up stories, exploring with my camera, or simply observing the world around me. I looked and listened more deeply than most because I didn’t have siblings to bounce off of, and that quiet curiosity really shaped how I see people and moments today.

I was always creative and expressive. Art came naturally to me, and so did storytelling. I’ve always been detail-oriented and deeply in tune with emotions, which definitely shows in the way I connect with people and photograph them now.

Along with visual art, I was also really into music. I played the piano, flute, and guitar at different points in my life, and music gave me another way to express myself emotionally and creatively. It taught me discipline, rhythm, and how to feel something fully—skills that surprisingly translate beautifully into photography.

And of course, I was a huge Disney fan from a very young age. The magic, the storytelling, the attention to detail—it all spoke to me and helped fuel my imagination. That sense of wonder and appreciation for meaningful moments has followed me into adulthood and plays a huge role in how I approach my work today.

Looking back, my childhood really laid the foundation for who I am now: a storyteller, an artist, and someone who’s passionate about capturing the magic in everyday life.
