Check Out Ro.Sa Sunflower’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ro.Sa Sunflower.

Ro.Sa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Back when I was in the School of Performing Arts at my alma mater (UCF), I met this quiet Jazz pianist that was super talented. I invited him to my house to meet my sister who is a bassist and from there began our group chemistry. It was the night of my birthday when Collin (Keys player) and I wrote our first song and decided we should pursue that inspiration.

From then on, we’ve performed internationally and put out a few tracks together. To this day, Collin and Joela are my go to instrumentalists for when I have live performances or when I’m able to bring a live band instead of using backing tracks. As I reach new heights as a musician, I’m discovering more about myself as an Artist and letting the genius of music speak for itself.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely been a bumpy ride, one thing about it and two things for sure! The hardest part of it all, and I think this is for most Artists, is coordinating rehearsal/creation time and finances.

If your music isn’t quite paying for itself just yet and you’re just starting off, it’s imperative that you keep a side job or garner sponsors to be able to finance yourself to reach your goals. Between life, bills, or work, it was hard to coordinate and keep that inspiration alive.

Once you have those finances together or you have money management understood, you can start investing in yourself and allowing yourself more time by not being consumed by your normal 9 to 5.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m primarily a Vocalist and am also an Actress. I also participated in the Ms. Florida USA competition in 2018 as the first Ms. Ft. Pierce USA. Vocally, I specialize in genres such as Classical, Neo-Soul, Musical Theatre, Pop, Rock, Jazz, RnB, and Gospel. With Acting, I’ve been casted in a few local commercials and films that are in production and even as an extra in a t.v. show! I’ve been doing theatre since high school and that’s what pushed me to continue that skill through film.

I’d say that I’m especially known for my cross-genre approach to music. I am most proud of what actually sets me apart from others and that’s the fact that I can not be labeled under one genre yet can still beautifully merge each inspiration together as one Artist. For example, being able to switch from classical singing to Pop or RnB is not an easy task as they require different vocal techniques.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters to me most is to spread positivity and love around the world. Losing my mother recently has definitely reaffirmed that mission in my heart as she was someone that loved others unconditionally. No exaggeration.

We have so many outlets expressing depression, heartbreak, and stress which is all good because it’s very important to know yourself and your emotions (let alone express them), but I think there should also be influences that provide a positive solution to that feeling. There may be times that we need a little pick me up and I aim to be one of those people for the world. My mom did it and it naturally ran into my personal goals as well.

I had the pleasure of performing with Ro.Sa in a local musical theatre production. Not only does she have unparalleled vocal chops, but her kindness to those much less experienced and willingness to be a positive team player/collaborator made a great impression on me!
