Today we’d like to introduce you to Sado Smooth.
Hi Sado, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey as a DJ because of Soulection Radio; it opened my eyes to a world of sound I didn’t see represented locally. I was drawn to the unique blend of future beats, global sounds, and timeless r&b and rap, but finding DJs in Orlando who shared that same style was rare.
My first chance to showcase what I loved wasn’t glamorous—it was in a hookah lounge. Still, it was an opportunity to bring something different, and it worked. While it wasn’t where I envisioned myself, it was a stepping stone. Soon enough, I connected with local party groups who appreciated my approach. They helped me push my style forward, challenging me to bring that same distinctive sound into a more lively, party-oriented format. That combination of community and opportunity helped shape where I am today, blending those genres and reaching audiences in a way I hadn’t initially imagined.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. DJing full-time is a dream, but I still have family responsibilities, and making that leap isn’t easy. My style can be risky, especially in a scene where it’s not the norm. While it’s been successful in the places I play, there aren’t enough of those spots in Orlando to rely on it full-time.
For me, DJing is way more than just a job. It’s an art form, a lifestyle, something much deeper than just “pressing play” on what people expect. That dedication to my craft comes with its own challenges, but it’s also what drives me to keep pushing for more, even if the path isn’t straightforward.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work as a DJ is all about curating a unique musical experience that spans genres and cultures. I love digging for different sounds and introducing people to music they never heard or forgotten all about. One thing I’m known for is blending unexpected genres—like mixing an old-school Miami bass track with a Brazilian 808 Volt Mix beat. This approach keeps DJ sets familiar yet surprising, letting people feel connected to the music while exploring something new.
What I’m most proud of is this constant search for the next sound, a habit that has become my signature. It’s what sets me apart when I’m DJing, and I think it’s why people respond to my style. I’m always looking for ways to push boundaries and make every set memorable.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up in Florida, I was all about finding my own style, gravitating towards things that hadn’t hit the mainstream yet but felt fresh and ahead of the curve. I loved showcasing classics, too—whether in fashion, music, or movies. I wasn’t into following the crowd; I liked discovering and sharing things that stood out on their own.
