Check Out Samantha Overton’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Overton

Hi Samantha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
To start, thank you for this opportunity to express my creativity and its formation with you. Regarding my story, it all started when I was a kid, as far back as I can remember. I was always drawing, singing, dancing, writing, etc. Any creative outlet that there was, I wanted to explore it. And I still do. Even if only for a brief moment, I would like to experience the position and perspective of every creative. I want to know each medium and its push and pull; what makes it weep and what makes it sing. But truthfully, the core of my journey lies with my mental health. I will not divulge details, as I am fond of my privacy, but I have long, long journeyed through the peaks and valleys of my own mind. It has been a journey both wicked and cruel, soft and gentle. The ability to both release and express during such tumultuous times has, I felt, saved me in many ways. When I don’t know what else to do… I turn to art.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As previously stated, the road was definitely not smooth, haha. And it still isn’t. I don’t think it ever will be. I believe that life isn’t about making the road finally smooth, it’s instead about learning and gaining acceptance that it will forever be rough. To find the joys in the little things, the simple things. In the smile of your friend, the color of the sky, or the bark of a dog. Often times, I still grapple with finding these joys and feeling them in all their beauty due to my internal struggles. This is where I circle back to art to help me feel whole again.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am known mostly for my traditional artwork, my newer modeling endeavor, and my tarot reading ability. I also enjoy mixing them together, as I’ve dabbled into structuring the framework for making my own tarot deck. This also leads my brain to exploring how I could combine the three into one, as well as other possibilities I might accomplish. As for what makes me proud with these things – that lies in my ability to not only help myself through them, but to help others as well. Especially when it comes to tarot reading, as I have assisted many with their own internal wars. And I look forward to continuing brainstorming ideas of how my art and modeling could somehow become beneficial to others, too.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My family and close friends have been my biggest supporters, absolutely. They have not only held me close at my lowest and darkest of times to keep me together, but they never, ever faltered in their love for me. Not once have they ever hesitated to show me kindness, empathy, and compassion. I feel incredibly, undeservedly blessed to have my parents, my brothers, and my friends give the love that they have given to me. I would like to shout out to my father, my mother, my older brother, and my younger brother (their names shall remain undisclosed to respect their privacy). I would also like to shout out to my friends, specifically Viktor, Bailey, Julia, Mike, Claire, Adam, Britney, Autumn, Erica, Jeff, Dakota, and so many, many, many more.
