Check Out Sophia Tanner’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Tanner

Hi Sophia , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m currently a senior at UCF, studying advertising and public relations, and my journey really started in a unique way. I found The Bridal Finery through a friend in my sorority. She would always share how much fun her job was and how she was even trying on wedding dresses as part of her work. We’d often talk about her day-to-day life, and I was so fascinated by the experience. Although I didn’t have any bridal-related background, I did have retail experience, and since I was studying advertising, I thought it would be an exciting opportunity to try something new and see how I could apply my skills in a different industry.

During winter break of 2022, she reached out to me saying her position was opening up as she was leaving to prepare for graduation. I didn’t hesitate—I immediately applied. I’m so glad I did because it led me to where I am today, gaining hands-on experience and learning more than I ever expected. It’s been a great journey so far, and I’m excited to see where it takes me as I finish my degree and continue pursuing my career.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My experience at The Bridal Finery has been incredibly rewarding. While it hasn’t always been a completely smooth road, especially when it comes to balancing work with the heavy workload at school, I truly enjoy coming to work every day. The challenges of juggling both can be tough at times, but the positive environment and the amazing team I work with make it all worth it. I’m fortunate to be surrounded by a group of women who have really become like big sisters to me. I look up to each of them, and I’ve learned so much from their guidance and support. Overall, despite the challenges, it’s been such a growth-filled experience, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m the Marketing Coordinator at The Bridal Finery, and my role is pretty diverse. I handle everything from social media content creation on platforms like Instagram and TikTok to helping create advertisements and revamping the website. I also manage uploading new products to the site, creating monthly newsletters, and promoting events for each month. Additionally, I work directly with brides, assisting in alteration appointments alongside our seamstress.

What I’m most proud of is how I’ve been able to contribute to building our brand’s online presence and connecting with brides through various platforms. I love that my work combines creativity with strategy, and I’m always excited to see how our social media content resonates with our audience. What sets me apart is my ability to wear multiple hats and balance both the marketing and hands-on, client-facing aspects of the role. I really enjoy working directly with brides and making sure they have the best experience, while also supporting the business behind the scenes.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
As a kid, I was definitely more introverted. I kept to myself a lot and took time to warm up to people, but once I felt comfortable, I could be very outgoing and talkative. I’m naturally more reflective, and I like to observe situations before jumping in, which is probably why I tended to stay quiet in new environments. However, when I found my people or a subject I was passionate about, I would open up and engage fully.

I’ve always been super organized—everything needed to have its place, and I took pride in keeping things neat and orderly. That attention to detail has stuck with me into adulthood and has definitely helped in both my personal life and work. I also loved being busy. I was involved in sports, school, and art, so I was always doing something. I thrive in active environments and staying occupied is something I still enjoy today.

Fashion has always been a big interest of mine. I distinctly remember asking my mom to subscribe to Vogue so I could receive the big magazine every month. I would eagerly flip through each issue, fascinated by the latest trends and the world of fashion. It was one of my favorite ways to unwind and explore my creative side.
