Check Out Stephanie Allen’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Allen.

Stephanie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always been in the service industry; I have served ice cream in high school, pizza by the slice in college, and bartended after my first two years of college. Finally, I worked at the front desk of a hair salon and I was hooked! I went to the opening of Paul Mitchell the School Tampa with one of my friends that was enrolling and I knew this was it! Then I found out how much it cost, and it set my mind back like Woah, maybe I should wait. Later, while looking through the want ads, I discovered a job opportunity at the front desk of that school! It felt like a sign, a second chance to discover. I applied, and I was in!

After six months, I decided to pick up and move to the Orlando School and join their Skincare program; I was then promoted within the school to administration, where I stayed for five years while doing Spa services on the weekends. Finally, I decided I was ready to attend the cosmetology program and do what I wanted to do since day one. There was one salon I was in LOVE with, and when I finished the program, they just so happened to be hiring one day a week. I jumped on the chance and started from the bottom, assisting and in ten years worked into Master Stylist as well as being marketing & education director. It has been a wild journey, and it just keeps evolving. Currently, I have made the jump out of that employee-based salon into a more independent artist. I am working closer to home, and now I look forward to networking and growing with other local small businesses in my neighborhood. I love the downtown Lake Mary and downtown Sanford area. This is where I live, and my family is growing, and now I’m all in on this area to promote my small business. I am a hairstylist, content creator, and life coach to everyone in my chair. I love to give great service, share my journey to break out of perfectionism and into self-care, and I build my confidence by having coaches that help me be a better coach to everyone around me. I love to motivate, create, and inspire. I currently work out of a beautiful space called Bohemy Salon and the journey just keeps evolving! I am Steph Allen Hairstylist and happy to serve the Orlando community.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t been smooth, but I am a really good brick paver. I look ahead and I make actionable goals. Everything that has happened has been because I have ventured out to discover the possibilities. I reach out and meet people, connect and engage online, and do my research. I ask the questions, and sometimes I don’t like the answers, so I wait. Either for a better time or better opportunity.

I could’ve done things faster, but if it didn’t feel right in my intuition, I waited, and that was helpful even though it felt like a struggle because my heart and brain wanted to do it now. Sometimes I let having a good time late at night get in the way of feeling good in the morning. Honestly, when I look back to think of struggle, I have gratitude for it because it allowed me to learn more about shaping the future of my path. Life is a struggle, but it’s also a flow. The best thing I have discovered is that everything will pass, good and bad, so it’s best not to be a victim of the circumstance.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a hairstylist. I specialize in dimensional color, vivid colors, haircut & finishing. I am known for my high shine and blow-drying skills. I am also known for how I make you feel about yourself when you’re looking in the mirror. I am your cheerleader, your beauty coach, and your best listener. I hear you and I feel you. I want to connect on a deeper level than giving you a trim. I specialize in taking out the weight and making you shine. I am most proud of making women feel lighter, brighter, and more in control of their confidence. I teach you how easy it is to look your best and feel your best. I am proud to stand behind you to help you feel your very best self!

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Giving great service is what matters most! Any hairdresser can color your roots, but it takes a special hairdresser to give a great experience, from consultation to shampoo (hot towel treatment) to the styling and finishing. It feels good to feel good, and when you shine, it makes my light shine brighter. Energy is everything to me and my goal is to give a great experience to keep my flow going! I love making you feel your best!
