Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatianna Maenza.
Hi Tatianna, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
To make things short and sweet when it comes to joining the music industry it all started in middle school. I decided to learn the guitar, play at a graduation luncheon, and from there I knew I wanted to be a musician. I started writing music in 2013, releasing on SoundCloud in 2015, and finally on bigger platforms like Spotify and Apple Music in 2019.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t always been easy but anything that I struggled with I put into my music. Some of the rough patches included losing family members, losing a friend to an aneurysm, struggling to come out and truly be me, and just simple relationship mishaps.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I sing, play guitar and keyboard, produce demos for all or at least most of my songs, and help with co-production. I am most proud of my new song “call me” for that song was really pushed out by me and is like a child to me. I catered to it, protected it, created it, and so much more.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
My biggest risks I have taken when it comes to my music includes coming out and just really putting out what I believe is MY music. With the world still not always loving those who may not sexually identify the same as them, it’s hard to hope for a space created that’s safe for artist like myself.
