Today we’d like to introduce you to The Dev.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We all have extensive musical experience, whether that be on a national tour or in education and have been pushing as hard as we can to make THE DEV a household name. The band is John, Ryan, Chris, Barrett, and Nikollaj. We started back in late 2018 and hit the ground running with having our 4th show at house of blues, being Featured on alt press magazine, receiving endorsements, and signing to management. Then covid hit which stalled us for a bit but since the pandemic, we have amassed over half a million views on YouTube, played enormously large festivals like welcome to Rockville. Been featured many times on 101.1 wjrr. And other larger press outlets.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We had covid., Family members with cancer, internet trolls, people snubbing us (either cause the band is young or because we have a female singer). Car accidents, money issues but we always push through.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Art is subjective. And we love to make you feel something. THE DEV means whatever you want it to mean. To me, I see it as an acronym for Desired Evolutionary Vision. For the growth and sight, we all have to push this band to be more than a household name.
What matters most to you? Why?
I just love playing my instrument. I love that other people feel something when we come together and make art. To me, that emotional connection threw art is all that matters.
