Check Out Tia Rose’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tia Rose.

Hi Tia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am from the beautiful city of, Memphis Tennessee. My dream is to become a filmmaker. I have received many awards for my work from the NAACP, Memphis International Airport, and the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art. I take pride in all of my work in every picture, video, and graphic design that I create. I believe that you never stop learning; it’s not about what you know but what you are willing to learn.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been decent. My biggest challenge was a lack of equipment at times; however, I believe that I developed more vital skills in editing and camera operation.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
In my photography work, I like to emphasize the subject and their purpose in the picture. In film, I like to create movies that will make the audience think about their day-to-day decisions. With music and graphic design, I like to create something new different from what people have heard and seen. I am most proud of the documentary I made as an undergrad at Bethune-Cookman University entitled “A Cleody Responsibility”. This documentary is based on the question of whether the Administration and Faculty of Bethune Cookman University are fulfilling the responsibility that Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune left to her predecessors for our young people. This documentary is designed to remove the gray area of communication between the students, faculty, and the administration and provide a solution for the issue.

How do you define success?
Success, in my definition, is being able to reach your financial goals while being happy and proud of what you do. Also, finding a balance between life and work will help your mental and physical health in the long run.
