Check Out Ulysses Gutierrez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ulysses Gutierrez.

Ulysses, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began experimenting and learning to sing and write music lyrics in Spanish at the age of 17.

After nine years of working on my craft and attending school for music business production and engineering in New York City, I received an opportunity to participate in a compilation reggeaton album that went platinum, EL Draft.

From there, I had the opportunity to perform and open for big-name artists such as Tego Calderón, Ivy Queen, Julio Voltio, and Fat Joe.

I recently released my debut EP album, Mi Idioma, which is available for download and streaming on all platforms. I am currently working on my full-length LP album as well as videos to accompany my releases.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has most definitely been an uphill battle, to say the least. As an independent artist, it is very difficult to not only fund your projects but also to promote your music and get it out for the fans to enjoy.

Finances are always the biggest challenge but with hard work dedication persistence And a little bit of creativity with my teammate and collaborator/producer, Five Six Spins, I have been able to overcome these challenges slowly but surely.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work hard to be as creative as possible and to separate myself from others in terms of lyrics and performance. My musical style has evolved over time and I concentrate on bringing a new sound to the Latin urban world.

Currently, Latin trap and Reggaeton have dominated for some time but I am working hard to bring a very eclectic R&B/pop sound to the Latin urban genre that has not existed up until now.

I am very proud of my work ethic and my current project and my effort to bring a new sound to the Latin urban world!

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Absolutely a huge amount of credit goes to my brother Five Six Spins (Eli Baez).

He is my producer and collaborator and he has helped me immensely with creating ideas for songs as well as providing me with the great production necessary to create the amazing music that we are able to create. The belief that we have in what we do with our talent is unparalleled!!
