Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Torres.
Hi Victoria, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When we started planning our wedding in 2015, I got a huge high from it. I scheduled MANY venue tours and talked to MANY vendors. Signs began in prep for my business. I just didn’t know it, yet.
Post wedding; I was asking and doing multiple friend’s small events and constantly wanting to host events and just going that extra mile.
My husband wasn’t too happy with glitter and more all over our 800 square foot apartment 🙂
Eventually, I remembered a college friend taking a wedding planning course and had worked for a planning firm. I really only wanted to do small events for close loved ones. I started to realize that high I was getting when planning our wedding (aside from it being “mine”!)
I was living in Tampa at the time and the Certified Wedding Planning Courses had already occurred in Orlando in Tampa. So, off to Tallahassee I go for 1 night to start my dream!
I learned SO MUCH just in thise 2 days. I met other planners wanting to start out, how to market and MORE! I was incredibly thankful I started them. That weekend, I started my social media accounts and picked my business name.
I knew I always wanted to include Rose as it came from my Mom. She also loved events. She made me who I am today and I am so happy for that.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting out was deffintley a struggle. Other seasoned wedding industry businesses weren’t super welcoming. I was thankful to grow, learn and become apart of the Certified Wedding Planning Society which really taught me so much and gave me the strength that was needed for the industry!
I was incredibly thankful for the assisting opportunities that came with being apart of the society and of course, the large friend group in central, FL that kept recommending me to to their friends weddings.
One wedding day in 2018, in DeLand, FL, that wedding venue became my 2nd home. I woke up to an email post-wedding asking if I wanted to keep coming back.
There have been such amazing opportunities since I started my business and I can’t thank everyone enough. You never stop growing and learning in this industry. Never settle. There is always more to learn.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a wedding and event planner and coordinator. Depending on the package chosen, I meet with my couples multiple times before their wedding day to ensure they have everything they need and I have everything I need in order to execute their best day ever ! It’s truly the most fun job.
I become friends with my couples, I make the planning process a fun and low stress experience and I have creative intake and ideas to input into a wedding day that’s all about the couple. Because there is no rule book on how a wedding should go. It’s your wedding!
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be my mom, my grandma and my baby cousin picking me up from elementary school one day with pillows in the back seat, lol.
Pillows in the back seat meant we were going on a long drive and I always liked to sleep in the car.
I asked where we were going and they said it was a surprise. We drove to Disney world that day from South Florida.
