Today we’d like to introduce you to Waveyyp.
Hi Waveyyp, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been into music since I was 8 playing drums. In middle school and high school, I marched with the band. After graduation, honestly never had the thought of becoming a producer.
In 2018, I started making beats off my iPhone and later upgraded to my iPad and that’s when the thought of becoming one came. 2019-2020 I deployed overseas and in January 2020 I brought my 1st laptop and FL Studio and that’s when I took being a producer seriously.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Never will there be a smooth, laid-out road to success. Being where I’m from, honestly, if you don’t have motion, there’s no way to succeed so that’s when in 2020 I was in a different state each month. Networking, planning events, and booking out studios to potentially get recognized and respected.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a producer/audio engineer in hip-hop, R&B, trap, pop. I’m also an upcoming composer in the sync community. I also do artist development and curating artist-related events outside of producing.
I am really proud of the amount of people I can help through the music industry, connecting the dots for some who have potential but can’t quite reach the ones in my network or beyond. Definitely, my workflow and traveling, and I always get asked where do you stay or do you sleep. There’s really no formula to success, as long as your being consistent in your field.
Whether it’s learning the basics about the business or getting better at your craft, just stay in sync and be relevant.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My mom is definitely to who I owe every single bit of credit! Ever since I was introduced to music, she never had second thoughts and was always supportive no matter the situation. She really loved it more when I became a producer. She really loved the process of making beats and she loved the artists I produced for.
