Today we’d like to introduce you to Yarelbys Tua.
Hi Yarelbys, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was always interested in social media but I saw it as a hobby and honestly, I was kind of scared of being judged for suddenly posting more and with a different purpose than just my personal life. Growing up, I loved taking pictures, dancing and modeling but unfortunately, at age 13, I was diagnosed with cancer and a few months after with a spinal cord injury. I put a lot of my dreams aside to take care of my health, and as time passed, I forgot about those dreams. I grew into an adult with more important “responsibilities” until the pandemic started and I had a wake-up call moment. I realized that I was living life in automatic pilot and that I didn’t know my passions and rarely even thought about my dreams. I came back to everything that I enjoy as a child and decided to at least give some of my dreams a “try.” I decided to share more of my life on social media and share content that I love.
I started doing things that make me happy, like taking many pictures, experimenting with fashion, and even trying some of the dancing trends. Life is just so much better when you get to do what you love! I realized that I was so much more than my disability and that I had some limiting beliefs engrained on me that I didn’t notice before. I now know that I can achieve anything that I set my mind to and I really mean it. I feel that this is the beginning of an amazing season in my life. I’m full of passion and I am eager to share my story, my life and my style with my audience. I am also very excited to be an inclusion advocate and bring awareness to topics like disability and ableism. I never imagined how big of an impact your story and advocacy can have in the life of others, that’s why my goal is to break those barriers that have been imposed by society and speak up about matters that need attention while also achieving my dreams.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been easy. There has been a lot of sacrifices and though decisions that I’ve to made along the way. Getting out of my comfort zone and trying something new was a little scary. Realizing that I was becoming a person with different goals and that it was ok to change and grow into something different that what you originally thought. Overcoming fear and takings risk It’s scary, I am not going to lie but It’s so rewarding. Life is so much better on the other side of fear. Understanding that there’s always going to be a new mountain to climb, that challenge means growth and change. This has been key to my process. I learned to accept the bad the same way that I embrace the good. It doesn’t make it easier but you are in peace with life.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
