Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Roberts.
Hi Stephanie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Back in 2015, I found myself homeless and addicted to opioids. I struggled with addiction off and on previously for about four years. I ended up having to move in with my dad and start from the bottom. I struggled with getting sober for a very long time until I ended up getting pregnant with my first son and from that day forward, I quit everything cold turkey, married the father of my baby. Who ended up being the love of my life, cleaned up my life and had two more children not long after that. I have also had a lot of Traumatic things happen in my childhood/upbringing that I have finally faced and dealt with as an adult and now I strive to empower not just women but people to be the best version of themselves and to know that you can rise above anything and that your past does not define who you are.
Makeup has always been my passion since I was a teenager and now I have really put my energy into that passion and I have started doing freelance makeup doing weddings and private clientele and my goal is to own my own salon that caters to men and women from makeup, hair, eyelashes etc. I love making people feel good and I love uplifting people. I have always been a strong believer in kindness. It takes nothing to be kind and we have no idea what kind of battles people are facing and lending out a hand to help someone up could change their life. I always try to be the person that I needed when I was down and struggling.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Healing from unresolved trauma and growing as an individual takes so much time and effort. It forces you to face things that you have suppressed for years but I knew that I had to do it not only for myself but for my kids. Building clientele and getting yourself out there isn’t always easy, especially with the pandemic and people seeing makeup as non-essential.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am currently a stay-at-home mom of three beautiful kids and a freelance makeup artist on the side. I’ve always been known for doing make-up and eyelashes and for always making people feel good about themselves. I am most proud of the family and life I have created. They are a reflection of me and I strive to be the best mother and wife I can be, along with just being a good human being. What sets me apart from others is that I genuinely love making people feel good. Most people can give a compliment to someone and not really mean it but I feel like when I look at someone, I see their soul and their true beauty and I feel like it needs to be told to them so I’m very blunt and I speak very freely to others.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My personality and my charisma. As a child, I was always very shy but as an adult, I have become a people person. A lot of that has to do with being a stay-at-home mom because I am constantly home with little to no adult interaction besides my husband, haha. I love to strike up a conversation and learn about people. I love to make people feel important and beautiful.
