Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony Renta.
Hi Tony, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After spending time working in the fire service as a Firefighter Paramedic, I decided to begin teaching medical certification courses. I found that many people have conflicting schedules that create an issue with attending traditional courses. On-Call Training Solutions was born out of the concept that healthcare professionals deserve concierge service when completing mandatory training. I remained with the fire service until 2017 where I then retired as a Battalion Chief Paramedic and pursued my entrepreneurial passion full time. What initially began part-time in 2013 grew into a full-time need when I retired in 2017. We now run one of the highest volume certification companies in Central Florida with client healthcare professionals in all 31 hospitals. We process more than 5,000 clients per year and work with all professions providing concierge courses on their time to suit their needs.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has always been a struggle because other companies that provide training were in the industry before us and few companies have attempted to duplicate innovative models since inception. This requires more of a tactful approach to business with a clear focus on client satisfaction. Our model reflects that our goal is exceed your expectations with every course we complete. Once we shifted from revenue driven to client satisfaction driven, we removed the potential competition and placed ourselves in a league of our own. But we had to learn these concepts during stagnant times to understand what should be done differently.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We provide concierge American Heart Association Courses to the working healthcare professional on their time. When a client contacts us for a course, we do not tell them when to come in. We ask them what works best with your schedule and we simply work around their needs. To date, we have grown the company from 90 original clients to more than 7,000 in nearly eight years. We have never missed a course or told a client we could not accommodate their needed date or time. We have taught courses at 10:00pm and 4:00am since the client needs to come before ours from time to time. We are known for impeccable communication, well-rounded educational courses and overall exceptional service. We are responsible for innovating the way courses are completed and will continue to do so for years to come. Our client following and support as been essential to our success and we are forever grateful to the recommendations, reviews and kind words that are said about our organization.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was an entertaining kid that enjoyed playing with my brother and cousins. In school, I would always strive for good grades and in particular reaching A-B honor roll each 9-week period. My grandmother raised me from the age of 6 months. She passed away in 2014 and small piece of my heart went with her. She taught me an abundance of life lessons and instilled a work ethic that has carried me to this day. I enjoyed family time, watching sports, playing video games and playing outside. I was involved in my church each week and held my first part-time job at the age of 13.
