Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Cosiuc.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m Alex Cosiuc, CEO and founder of Fastex Logistics. My journey began far from where we are today—back home in Moldova, where I learned early on the value of hard work, persistence, and family. When my wife, Veronica, and I came to the United States, we brought with us a dream—to build something meaningful, something that would last.
In 2016, we started Fastex Logistics with just a handful of trucks and a clear vision: to become one of the top open deck companies in the country. It wasn’t easy. We faced long nights, tough markets, and countless challenges, but we never lost sight of our mission—to deliver with integrity, reliability, and excellence.
Over the years, we expanded our services and our fleet, one truck and one relationship at a time. Today, Fastex operates with 110 semitrucks—all company-owned assets—including 46 flatbeds, 27 stepdecks, 20 conestogas, 7 RGNs, and 10 reefers. What started as a small operation has grown into one of the most prominent flatbed carriers on the East Coast.
One of the areas we’re most proud of is our bee hauling division. Transporting bee hives for pollination is no simple task—it requires precision, timing, and care. Yet we’ve become recognized as one of the top bee haulers in the nation, trusted by growers and beekeepers alike.
Today, as we continue to grow rapidly and steadily, I look back with gratitude. From humble beginnings in Moldova to leading one of the most respected logistics companies in the industry, this journey has been about more than trucks—it’s been about vision, family, and the belief that with hard work and heart, you can build something extraordinary.
Fastex Logistics is not just a company—it’s our dream in motion.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like any business in the trucking industry, we’ve had our fair share of challenges along the way. When Veronica and I started Fastex Logistics, we knew success wouldn’t come overnight. The freight market is unpredictable—it goes through cycles, and each one tests your ability to adapt. Rates fluctuate, capacity tightens, and sometimes you have to make tough decisions to keep your trucks moving and your people working.
One of the biggest tests came during the COVID-19 pandemic. Practically overnight, everything changed—freight patterns shifted, customers paused operations, and the supply chain as a whole was turned upside down. We had to navigate uncertainty while keeping our drivers safe and our operations running. It was a time that tested our resilience as a company. But instead of backing down, we doubled down—focused on communication, flexibility, and finding opportunities in the chaos. Those who adapted survived; those who stood still didn’t.
Another ongoing challenge in our industry is driver retention. Good drivers are the backbone of this business, and keeping them means more than just offering a paycheck. It’s about respect, reliability, and creating a company culture where drivers feel valued and supported. We’ve made it a priority at Fastex to treat every driver like part of the family—because, in many ways, they are.
And of course, there’s competition. The open deck and flatbed market is full of strong players, and standing out takes consistency and commitment. We’ve earned our reputation by focusing on service, safety, and relationships—not just transactions.
So no, it hasn’t been an easy road. But every obstacle has made us stronger, more adaptable, and more focused on our mission. The challenges taught us to think long-term, to build smarter, and to lead with purpose. And looking back now, I wouldn’t trade those struggles for anything—they’re what shaped Fastex Logistics into the company it is today.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Fastex Logistics Inc?
At its core, Fastex Logistics specializes in open deck transportation—from construction equipment and high-value machinery to one of our most unique niches: live bee transportation for pollination. Hauling bees is an incredibly sensitive and time-critical task, and it’s one that requires experience, precision, and care. We’re proud to be recognized as one of the top bee haulers in the country, trusted by farmers and beekeepers who depend on us to deliver safely and on time.
What truly sets Fastex apart is the combination of reliability, safety, and communication we bring to every shipment. We understand that no two loads are the same, which is why we offer a wide range of trailer types—including flatbeds, stepdecks, conestogas, RGNs, and reefers—allowing us to customize solutions for our customers’ unique needs. Our live tracking capabilities give clients peace of mind, while our in-house mechanic shop and oversize/overweight permitting department ensure that everything runs smoothly from start to finish.
But above all, what I’m most proud of is our team. Every driver, dispatcher, mechanic, and office staff member plays a crucial role in keeping Fastex moving forward. Each person contributes their “grain of sand” to make the company what it is today. Their dedication, professionalism, and teamwork are the true foundation of our success.
At Fastex, we’re more than just a logistics company—we’re a team driven by passion, precision, and purpose. We take pride in being trusted, dependable, and innovative, and as we continue to grow, our mission remains the same: to deliver excellence, every mile, every time.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5–10 years, the trucking and logistics industry—especially the open deck and specialized hauling sector—is heading toward major transformation. We’ll see a big push toward technology, with smarter tracking, predictive analytics, and automation improving visibility and efficiency across every shipment.
Sustainability will play a growing role, with more pressure for cleaner, more fuel-efficient fleets and even early adoption of electric or hybrid trucks where possible. Regulations will tighten around safety, emissions, and oversize permitting, while the driver shortage will continue to challenge the industry, pushing companies to focus more on retention, training, and better working conditions.
At the same time, specialization will become even more valuable. Companies that handle complex loads—like heavy equipment, high-value machinery, or live bees—will stand out. The demand for reliability, communication, and precision will only increase.
For Fastex Logistics, these changes are opportunities. Our strengths—diverse equipment, in-house permitting and mechanics, strong safety culture, and advanced communication systems—position us well to lead this next chapter. The companies that innovate, adapt, and continue to put people first will define the future of trucking, and we plan to be one of them.
