Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Walker.
Hi Alexandra, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado, surrounded by strong, independent and joyful women who believed that happiness wasn’t just a feeling—it was a way of life. My grandma, the matriarch of our family, taught me that I could do anything I set my mind to, and my mom always reinforced it with her signature phrase: “If it makes you happy.” That kind of encouragement carved out my core belief early on: success comes from living out loud and leading with heart.
I’ve always had a big personality—like, whole-room-takeover kind of energy. People either loved me instantly or didn’t know what to do with me—but I’ve never toned it down. Because the truth is, the world doesn’t need quieter women—it needs more women who show up fully, boldly, and unapologetically.
My path to entrepreneurship started with service. As a teenager, I racked up over 3,000 volunteer hours in retirement homes as well as diving head first into student councils and school community building and discovered that serving others gave me purpose. From there, I became a server in restaurants—and I fell in love with the hustle. I realized I could control my income and create joy for others just by showing up as myself.
But my real transformation came through struggle. I was a young mom raising a child on my own while my husband battled cancer across the country. I knew how precious memories were—and I hated that photography and events were luxuries many families couldn’t afford. That’s why I built a business offering affordable photography and planning, so more women could have the joyful moments they deserve—without breaking their budgets.
Then came Babes, Booze & Business. It was our 4th big move that took me back to restarting the build of my business again without knowing anyone so I thought what better way to put my business out there than to network? I had networked many times before and knew what I liked and what I didn’t from other groups. After my second child, I spiraled into postpartum depression. And I thought—if this could take down someone like me, then how many other women were quietly losing themselves too? I created Babes, Booze, & Business as an always free space where women in business could find purpose, community, and themselves again—with no gatekeeping, no sales pressure, just real support.
What I’ve overcome has become my secret sauce as a leader. I’ve crushed imposter syndrome and built a life rooted in authenticity. I’ve ditched the boxes women are expected to fit into and replaced them with connection, laughter, and real freedom. Every time I step behind a camera, host a networking event, or plan a celebration, I’m building something bigger than a brand—I’m creating community.
Because when women feel seen, supported, and powerful, we all win.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building something out of nothing while raising a family has been the most rewarding—and exhausting—challenge of my life. As a passionate, driven entrepreneur and a mother of three, I learned early on that “work-life balance” doesn’t really exist—it’s a constant juggle of shifting priorities. I craved connection, creativity, and community, while my husband—an introvert—couldn’t always understand why I needed to be out in the world, building relationships and chasing big dreams. One of my biggest hurdles wasn’t just time or energy—it was being taken seriously in my role, not just as a mom, but as a visionary. I spent years learning how to navigate the tension between building a thriving business and being present for my kids: chauffeuring them to school, making it to their activities, keeping our home together, and still showing up as the woman I’m meant to be. There were fights, breakdowns, and hard conversations—but I’ve learned that success doesn’t come from being everywhere at once. It comes from being fully present wherever you are, and fiercely protecting space for what matters most—my family. Even now, I have to consciously rebalance, or it all starts to slip again. But I’ve built this life with intention, and every day I choose to keep building—with love, boundaries, and purpose.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about My businesses are: Babes, Booze, & Business, Monarch Parties & Events, and Monarch Parties & Events Photography?
At the heart of everything I do—whether it’s photography, event planning, or women’s networking—is one mission: to create meaningful, accessible, and joy-filled experiences for people who might otherwise feel overlooked. I own Monarch Parties & Events, where we specialize in creating beautiful, budget-friendly events that never feel “cheap”—because everyone deserves to celebrate their moments in style. I also run a photography business focused on vivid, outdoor portraiture that captures real emotion, not just poses. And I’m the founder of Babes, Booze & Business (BBB)—a fast-growing nonprofit networking group built to give women a free and authentic space to grow their businesses through connection, collaboration, and community.
What sets me apart is that everything I offer is intentionally inclusive and heart-centered. I’m not in this to build a brand that looks good on paper—I’m here to build relationships that last, uplift women who feel isolated, and help people feel seen in every sense of the word. I understand firsthand what it’s like to be a mom, an underdog, a dreamer with limited resources. That’s why my work focuses on making magic happen—whether it’s giving someone affordable family photos they never thought they could afford, or helping a woman find her confidence at a networking event when she was ready to give up.
What I’m most proud of is the community I’ve built through BBB. We’ve created a ripple effect of referrals, friendships, and support that’s changing lives—not just businesses. And I want readers to know this: I show up 100% as myself, and I create spaces where you can do the same. Whether you’re hiring me to capture a memory, plan your event, or join our network, you’ll feel that same passion, purpose, and presence in everything I do.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
What most people don’t know about me is that underneath all the structure, strategy, and showing up—I’m really just a dirty hippie at heart. I want peace, love, harmony, man. I truly believe in being someone who fights the darkness in the world with light. I’m a people pleaser by nature, so I’m constantly working on boundaries and reminding myself that it’s okay not to be everything to everyone, all the time. While it might look like I have it all together, truthfully—I’ve got baskets full of clean laundry that never quite get put away, and my sink always seems to be full of dishes (because apparently, cooking at home for a family of five means actual dishes every day—who knew?).
What I’ve learned is that being human is messy, and that’s okay. You don’t have to show up as your best self in every area every single day. What matters is showing up with heart, giving yourself grace, and doing a little better tomorrow. I think society puts way too much pressure on perfection—and if we all gave ourselves and each other just a little more grace, the world would feel a whole lot lighter.
