Community Highlights: Meet Angela Misner of Dust to Sparkle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Misner.

Hi Angela, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I moved from Pittsburgh to Orlando in 2008. I was a full-time mother of three girls who were 6, 8 and 10. All the girls were in school and I wanted to find a job to keep me busy and provide for them. I started with one client in Celebration, FL and every client after that came from word of mouth. I had always taking pride in cleaning and had a passion for it and this enabled me to get paid for what I loved and make my clients happy in the process. My background is actually in Nursing and I had several jobs and courses in that but took a break when I became a full-time mum. I started Dust to Sparkle in 2016 after a life-altering experience in my life and after having my fourth child. Fast forward five years and being able to focus on my clients and children, I now have a thriving business and new clients are on a waitlist.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has most certainly not been an easy road but certainly a rewarding one. I became a single mother and had been in three abusive relationships since I was 17. There were many hard times and I suffered with anxiety and depression. I was able to come out of it stronger and creating my business gave me a newfound self of independence and confidence. My four girls were my world and when they started to get older, I had more time to focus on myself and my business. There were struggles but looking back, I believe that any woman in the same situation as me can have hope in knowing that you are not stuck and you can take control of your life and become a strong, independent, fearless woman.

As you know, we’re big fans of Dust to Sparkle. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a female-owned, family-run cleaning company. My services are tailored to each individual client. I take pride in knowing that clients trust me with the keys to their homes and enable me to make it even more beautiful than it already is. One of my specialties is that I partner with ‘Cleaning for a reason’ which is a way to give back to people in need for example people going through cancer, to give them free cleans during a hard time in their lives. I think what sets me apart from others is my personal touches. I take pride in every house that I clean. No home is the same and everyone is different. I am so proud of the fact that I grew my business with no budget for marketing and was organically word of mouth from other clients to clients. My main client base is in Celebration, FL where I clean for both corporate offices and family homes. I offer weekly, bi-weekly or monthly cleans and strive to meet each individual business or family’s needs.

Any big plans?
My main goal is to grow Dust to Sparkle for both women and men. I would love to bring on employees and train people and possibly my daughters to run and help the business thrive. The cleaning industry is always associated with females but I find that males can make amazing employees and bring so much to the table. I want to inspire females, single mothers, women going through similar struggles that I did to know there is light at the end of the tunnel and there is a way out of any situation you may feel there may not be. I would love anyone reading this who may want to be part of Dust to Sparkle to get in contact.

Angela has a great attitude and is a pleasure to be around when she works. She does customize her jobs. She is also into using healthy non toxic cleaners. Instead of using toxic chemicals she protects your home and the residents by cleaning with elbow grease, steaming, and natural oils. She is always prompt and hard working. We have a non profit cat sanctuary with parrots and dogs. The Furkids love her. She even vacuums one cat who looks forward to purring when she vacuums him.
