Today we’d like to introduce you to Bianca Davila. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Born in Jacksonville, FL, Bianca’s interests in photography began at Sandalwood High School, where she was a part of the Yearbook Committee as Chief Photographer. This quickly developed her interests into passion, leading her to pursue the field professionally.
She started photographing professionally in 2011 when she began college at The Art Institute of Jacksonville and later pursued studies at The Florida Gateway College, where she obtained an Associate’s in Fine Arts. Continuing her education, she then entered the Daytona State College, a branch of the University of Central Florida, where she then obtained another Associate’s degree in Photographic Technology. After several years of dedication to the field, she completed the program with a Bachelor of Science in Photography from the University of Central Florida.
She has also shifted her focus in providing her services to the community. She has interned for the Maitland Art and History Museum and provided social media marketing services to the Tarflower Chapter of the Native Plant Society in Florida. Early in her career, she also volunteered at the St. Luke’s Hospital in Jacksonville, FL.
Bianca Jeiselle is now a well-known commercial photographer in Central, FL, whose work primarily focuses on portraiture and fashion. She has been featured in Vogue Italia Online, Coco Magazine, Envie Magazine, and the New York Post. An exhibition of her Thesis work has been put on display at the Southeast Center of Photography in Daytona Beach, FL and the University of Central Florida’s Art Gallery online. Her work will also be featured at an upcoming exhibition, ‘Natural Florida Art Gala,’ in Orlando, FL at the Iron Cow on October 1st, 2021.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Pursuing the field in photography hasn’t always been easy for me. There were a lot of setbacks in trying to complete my education but I kept going. It may not make sense for a photographer to have a degree because there are a lot of photographers out there that are self-taught without any education and they are successful but this was a personal goal for me; I was also self-taught before I entered college but I wanted a degree in my hand.
Another obstacle is that a lot of individuals will always say, “You can’t make money in the field… study something else.” Everything that came along the way as an obstacle, I faced it head-on, and never gave up on my dream of pursuing my own business. All of the negativity is what fueled me even more to never give up.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in portrait photography. My main focus would be fashion and beauty photography. I love to get really creative and artistic with a concept and make the model the canvas and bring that work of art to life! I also specialize in general portraits: family, maternity, newborns, engagements, couples, etc.
I feel like what sets me apart from others is that I want my clients to leave feeling more confident with themselves. A lot of people worry about their appearance and how others perceive themselves but with my photos, I want to give them that emotional boost that they may need to strengthen their connection with themselves, their family, or partner.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I follow a lot of Photography Facebook Groups and I feel like networking and connecting with people now of days is much easier because of technology. It’s easy to join a group, create a post of a concept, and connect with other like-minded individuals that are looking to work with other fellow creatives.
