Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandi Norton.

Brandi Norton

Hi Brandi, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey into self-employment started in 2018. I met a handful of people who exposed me to a career as a health insurance agent/advisor. Prior to my current role, I worked in the legal field for almost 10 years and was actively looking for a change. The idea of working for myself while still being in a position that allowed me to help people attracted me most. I also quickly saw the value in the new career opportunity from what I learned in the legal field. A successful business is one that maintains not only supply but demand. Health insurance is a need for all people and it’s a product that never runs out on the shelf.

Today I would consider myself established and an overall asset to anyone who utilizes my services. I have helped thousands of individuals, families and self-employed business owners with their insurance planning across the country. I’m confident in my ability to address almost any situation or need. I have also developed many industry connections which add value to my network of client resources.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No way! Every small business owner has to endure a few bumps and bruises to earn their stripes. My challenge was transitioning to a completely virtual client-facing role. Prior to my career change I had a majority of my interactions in-person. Relationship building is traditionally more organic face-to-face. Body language, eye contact, or even a firm hand shake all play a role in building trust with a client outside of general knowledge or resources. Transitioning to virtual communication only was different and caused me to focus on being as authentic as possible with my clients. I prioritize open and honest interactions and give my clients a safe space to discuss their needs no matter how sensitive the issues are. Having the right health coverage is a critical component to the access to medical treatment and should be the most important topic of every conversation.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Priority Wellness?
I specialize in securing affordable health coverage solutions for individuals, families, self-employed people and small business owners. Working with an advisor is beneficial because you can only see so many options online without a license, and most people miss out on savings due to not having access to all plans. My job is to listen to your needs, review your offers for you and present you with the best options based on your situation. There are so many other things in life to worry about and it shouldn’t be if you have a good health insurance plan. I enjoy putting my clients at easy knowing they have the coverage they need and I made sure no details were missed. In addition to that comfort, I am with my clients for the life of their policies. If they have future questions or need general assistance, they can contact me anytime.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I have learned in this business that networking is crucial to longterm success. Industries evolve and you must as well. Referral partners are a huge asset to extending your reach across the market. Personal development is also a great way to network and find others like yourself. This can be done via networking events or seminars in your particular field. Making connections can be unnatural or uncomfortable at first but it gets easier the more you participate in networking opportunities. Some colleagues even become friends which can serve as a morale booster in your new and evolving business.
