Community Highlights: Meet Brittany McGowan of Renew Beauty Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany McGowan

Hi Brittany, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started a hair service company after being a young girl and having to do my own hair. I was raised by my dad in a single parent home and let’s just say I didn’t like my crooked ponytail everyday. I practiced and practiced and took classes to perfect my craft and decided I wanted to be a hairstylist full time. I really enjoy the transformations and confidence I give the ladies and gentlemen I service and it doesn’t even feel like work!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Whewwww, it has not been an easy road. I began traveling to do hair and that drained me quickly to finally finding a salon home, but finding clients didn’t come as easy. I worked alot of late nights and weekends on top of a full time job and being a parent. It was a challenge always believing in yourself but making sure you are giving quality work and customer service to keep your business going.

We’ve been impressed with Renew Beauty Company , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Renew Beauty Company, our goal is to help you renew your beauty one style at a time. We create quality, clean styles for our clients, specializing in natural hair, braiding, and locs. Whether you want something fashion-forward, timeless, or just for a special event, Renew Beauty Company has you covered. I’ve found my speciality to fall in coloring, loc styling and creative braids. I would say the main thing that sets me apart from others is my customer service. Being able to answer questions for clients, listen to their concerns and give my honest opinion and feedback has been rewarding. Building trust in your clients takes you a long way. I’m most proud of being able to work my business full time and thoroughly appreciate my growth as a stylist and an individual.

How do you think about luck?
Unfortunately I don’t believe in luck. I believed you get out what you put in. As an entrepreneur if you don’t work you don’t eat. My dad has always told me faith without works is dead!
