Today we’d like to introduce you to Brycyn Smith. They and their team shared their story with us below:
As an avid garage sale shopper, graduate student Brycyn Smith spent many of her weekends exploring the beautiful neighborhoods of Winter Park, Florida. It was on one of these expeditions that she met homeowner Jeff Noonan.
With the sight of his garage sale novelty, the Walking Bike, Brycyn knew this find was special. Together, they struck up a conversation and it just so happened Jeff had an entire fleet of the Walking Bikes, awaiting a purpose. It was on that day they sparked the idea of a Winter Park Bike Tour on the Walking Bike.
It is now 5 months later, and we are having our grand opening in downtown Winter Park on March 24th! Together, Jeff and Brycyn have created a special bond as business partners. Regardless of many life obstacles, they have both had such a passion and interest in seeing this business venture become successful! Together, they are so excited to share this experience with the community!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a business is never a smooth process, especially while also juggling 3 part-time jobs and full-time academia at Crummer Graduate School of Business. Nothing is ever done perfectly, living and learning is a process. This is something that took me a while to be aware of. Time was my biggest challenge as mixing in permitting, licensing, and now promotion & marketing into my schedule is a 24/7 job.
The largest challenge outside of my control is the lead time it takes me to hear back from permission-granting individuals. Everything takes time & that is something I have learned to be cognizant of. The experience of starting a business has been one-of-a-kind and we are excited to see it launch on March 24th.
