Today we’d like to introduce you to Carla Nelson.
Hi Carla, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Carla Nelson and I am a wardrobe consultant and the owner of Believer, an accessories brand for history-making women. I started wardrobe consulting in 2015 and over the past five years, I have focused on styling business professionals, entrepreneurs and executives all throughout Florida. In the summer of 2020, in the middle of a pandemic LOL, I was inspired to create Believer to further meet the needs of my clients. While working with my clients, I often found that they lacked the insight, vision, or confidence to easily select accessories that would complement their outfits. Because of this, I sought to create a line of accessories that would translate easily between work and after-work activities. Customers of Believer, who we call Believer Babes, are now able to shop with a brand that has them in the mind-the ambitious woman who works just as hard as she plays. She can shop confidently, knowing that each piece will translate well whether our Believer Babe is in a work meeting or on a romantic dinner date.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
By no means has to start a second business been a smooth road. For instance, re-learning time management between wardrobe consulting, customer inquiries, strategic planning, etc. having to think for two businesses is truly a challenge. But I will say that having a successful business helped me skip a few steps when it came time to start a Believer. For instance, I’ve already made several connections within Orlando, I’ve already learned how to hire and what to look for in team members. I’ve already learned how to manage systems. So stepping into another lane has required a lot more discipline.

The believer is a an online accessories brand for history-making women by history-making women. We aim to make the lives of ambitious women simple by providing accessories, including fashion jewelry and scarves that translate easily from work to play. We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I am not sure if I believe in luck. I believe my hard work and consistency have played THE major role in both my life and business. If life were only based on luck, there would be no reason to work hard, strive or plan.
