Community Highlights: Meet Carla Ramos of Seeds By Faith Market

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carla Ramos.

Hi Carla, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Thank you for having me in your Magazine, my name is Carla, I am a wife, mother of two girls, an entrepreneur, and the owner of Seeds By Faith Market, we have an online store, and we are based in the Reunion FL (four corners) area. I got started with Seeds By Faith Market in a season where as a stay at home mom I craved to do something for myself that could benefit my generations to come. I simply started to miss my professional life outside of the home, and we needed to bring more income in, but I knew I did not want to go work for anyone else but myself. I used to be a preschool teacher & director prior to giving birth to my first daughter, and although I made a career in early childhood education that I loved, I knew I had a vision for myself in the coming years.

After I had my daughter, I quickly began to live a more holistic lifestyle, I gained experience throughout the years, and I started to dive into farm to fork, herbals, holistic health, growing my own food, non-toxic living, making friends with farmers, and doctors in the holistic world. Being the entrepreneur that I am, coming from a family that are mostly entrepreneurs & teachers. I knew I needed a business idea and I have always been the person that believes in solutions, rather than problems. If problems exist, surely there is a solution for it.

I quickly began to think about solutions, writing my 2, 5, and 10 year business plan. And Seeds By Faith Market was born! We started this business in the middle of the pandemic. We knew for a fact that there were needs to be met, for example, the importance of healthy living, holistic health, locally sourced good food, resources and products that could help someone’s lifestyle, alleviate or aid sickness. I simply asked myself, what do I want to offer that is going to serve people and help them live a healthier lifestyle through and through? And that’s how I came up with the name Seeds (because we are planting seeds of faith, information, education and providing products that are beneficial for their health), by Faith (because everything we do is by faith, we have faith in our products, our partners and in our clients!), Market (because we have plans to expand the market in many ways). We don’t want to provide products but also teach a lifestyle, provide resources, especially in the food desert area around the central Florida areas.

This has opened the doors for us in many ways that I had never imagined. We started delivering FARM TO DOOR boxes, doing farmer markets providing farm to table seasonal produce, to now focusing more on herbals, Latin Sofrito (passed down recipe from generations), DIY Elderberry Kits, and Sea Moss products for the entire family. This has helped us serve thousands of people and help them in many ways I could never imagine. And this year we are releasing online and in-person workshops on how to live a healthier lifestyle, especially around the food deserts in the area. Truly all the glory goes to God. This is just the beginning for us!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Since the beginning, I knew that my growth as a business owner would come from learning from my failures. We sure hit the road a couple of times in the first year. One of our biggest struggles was finding a way to get our products to people, making them accesible while keeping the costs reasonable to keep the business going. Especially when we did the farm to door boxes in the beginning, I used to drive for hours at a time to farms to get produce, and vegetables, and we surely understood quickly that our costs of getting the products and spending were much greater than what people were actually purchasing. This inspired me to start providing new products and while we no longer offer farm to table products for now, we still provide resources and education that helps people navigate locally sourced goodness.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Seeds By Faith Market?
Our mission at Seeds By Faith Market is to provide wholesome products for the entire family that are accessible to everyone while connecting community with local farmers, resources, and education around the importance of healthy habits that lead to healthy people. We encourage others to choose quality foods and products that will help their health & wellness.

As someone that struggled with my own health in my early 20s, I knew I wanted to help others in some way because truly I regained my life back in body, mind, and spirit. Now that we are expecting our second child, it has been so important to create and consume products that are also safe and effective during pregnancy.

We are known for our amazing immune boosting products, farm resources, food ingredient knowledge, and holistic living resources.

What sets us apart from others is truly everything we do, from product production, serving the client with excellence, seeing them as a person and not a number. We are not only selling you something, we care for you, we care for your health & wellbeing. Truly listening to their concerns and answering every question they may have. People over profit any day!

Our proudest moments have surely been the testimonies of our clients, life changing reviews and that we get to serve our clients nationwide thanks to the power of social media. The furthest we have clients is in Hawaii.

Our products are made every week fresh in small batches, they are great for all ages and while we serve clients nationwide, our local clients are truly loved! We love meeting with them when we do drop off’s and soon we will be coming back to the markets!

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory was with my grandmother, which by the way we have a product named after her “Doña Sonia Latin Sofrito”, she was the one that implanted the holistic ways in my heart, she was my caregiver and we lived in a farm. She built her house and we lived in the mountains of Ciales, Puerto Rico. The memories there and with her were my favorite, even though she passed away in an accident when I was 5, I was with her that day, she saved me by putting me in between her legs right before she lost her breaks. Today I am proud to live out her legacy. I can remember vividly all the good times we had in the farm “la finca”, we had tons of farm animals, every morning we had to take care of them, feed them, and go down the river for freshwater. I remember she would give me beet juice for healthy blood, make remedies at home, and so many other holistic ways! We would put on our farm boots and go do our farm business! It was my absolute favorite time.
