In 2019, I relocated from the Midwest to Orlando and secured a desk job handling calls. As time passed, I found the tasks becoming routine, prompting me to explore cleaning as a side hobby. Drawing from my experience with a cleaning company in Indiana, I was well-versed in the necessary procedures. With guidance from my father, who served as mentor and logo designer, I balanced two jobs for over a year, rarely taking days off. Eventually, I decided to leave my desk job. Through business networking and word-of-mouth referrals, I swiftly established a sustainable venture that replaced my desk job income. By looking ahead to 2024, my aspiration for Dust Diamond Cleaning is to secure dedicated office space and foster a growing team.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Along the journey, I encountered several challenges. These included acquiring the skills to effectively hire employees, taking on the role of my bookkeeper, and determining the optimal pricing structure for cleaning services that aligns with both our requirements and the financial constraints of our clients.
