Today we’d like to introduce you to Daria Smirnova
Hi Daria, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We are Alexey and Daria Smirnov – immigrants from Russia and professional ballroom dancers. We arrived in the US in 2019 to pursue our life and dance goals. We settled in Orlando and loved it since day one! Originally, Alexey studied chemical engineering, and Daria got a degree in sociology and languages, but dancing has always been our main passion! We travel all over the country on weekends to participate in dance competitions, and during the week, we work as dance teachers training people of all ages and levels. After working in different dance studios, we started our own business in 2023, and we are super happy and proud of the dance community we’ve been building. Some of our students learn how to social dance or get ready for an event, but some dance at the competitive level and have won some national titles! All our relatives and friends live back in Russia, so our students have become our family here! We’re proud and excited for our studio to grow and bring the joy of dancing to more people!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, we had many bumps on the road starting from getting and renewing working visas, learning the mentality and culture, and basically just building our lives from ground zero in the new country.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We work as independent dance instructors. Alexey and I teach all types of ballroom, Latin, and social dancing like Waltz, Tango, Cha-Cha-Cha, Swing, Salsa, Hustle, etc. You can come with your partner or on your own – you will dance with your instructor as your partner in this case. The lessons we do are individual lessons so we can tailor them to your needs and speed of learning to make the process the most comfortable. We teach all ages starting from 6 years old and up to 100 =) It doesn’t matter if you’ve never danced, have two left feet, and no rhythm – that’s what dance teachers are for! We’re proud of bringing quality education to our clients because we have more than 10 years of teaching experience and also we are active professional dancers making the finals of major US events. Our goal is to make your dance journey fun, comfortable, and productive, because we understand how difficult it is to start something totally new! We have a great introductory offer for the first private class to get to know us and our methods better. Looking forward to expanding our dance family!

We are constantly immersed in the ballroom dance world and we watch other dancers, seminars, or competitions on social media and YouTube. We also like to listen to personal growth podcasts and videos as well as read to become better versions of ourselves.
