It all started in 2019 when a friend of mine invited me to his house. At a point, we went to the living room, and sitting on a shelf was a figurine that captured my attention. It was my friend and his family in miniature! I fell in love with what my eyes were seeing and immediately came to my mind the opportunity to bring the business to my community. I researched how to open this kind of business, and by 2020, Mini Me Orlando was established and has been creating memories since then.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to having Mini Me Orlando up and running had been very bumpy. To start with, the investment required to buy the equipment took what I had in my savings account. Then, I had to travel to receive training on how to use the equipment. It took several months to acquire all permits required to run a local business. After everything was set and I was ready to open, the pandemic hit the world, and Mini Me Orlando had to go into standby mode. I never give up and hold on tight while we were able to get back on track. At this moment, a big challenge is that the community gets to know more about Mini Me Orlando since it is a new business in town and understand what a Mini Me is.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Mini Me Orlando makes a sculpture of a person in several sizes from 3 inches to 14 inches. A combination of 3D scanning and printing technology is used to capture an individual’s features. The full-color sculpture will show details from clothes and facial expressions. It takes about 40 seconds to do a 360 degrees scan of you. Every 3D Mini Me is custom-made using the scan we captured of you. A base can be added with your name. Mini Me sculptures are not made from pictures. The person needs to be present for the 360 scans to be done.
