Hi Desiree, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey into this industry began with my own struggles of unwanted hair, painful ingrowns, and the insecurity that came with both. In my early 20s, I discovered Brazilian waxing and fell in love with the confidence that came with smooth, healthy skin. Not long after, I decided to become an Esthetician so I could help others feel the same relief, and confidence.
In 2018, three years into my career, I took a leap of faith and opened WaxMe.
A full-body waxing salon specializing in female Brazilian waxing. As demand grew and my passion for helping more people deepened, I expanded into laser hair removal. By 2024, it was time for the business to evolve again, and that’s when I rebranded to Silken Aesthetics — a skin care and hair removal boutique.
Today, each member of my team specializes in their craft. Together, we offer waxing, laser hair removal, and fully customized facials. We’ve also developed our own aftercare line specifically for ingrowns and post-treatment care, so our clients are supported from the moment they walk in to long after they leave.
Through the years, our mission has remained the same-to empower our clients through exceptional treatments that enhance their self-esteem and promote overall well-being.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Entrepreneurship is never a smooth road. It’s a mix of optimism and doubt, but there is alot of growth in between. During the last 7 years, we’ve faced our share of challenges—one of the biggest being the pandemic, which forced us to shut down for two months. Even then, we found a way to push forward and came back stronger than before.
I belive as businesses grow, challenges never go away, you just get better at navigating them. Every challenge- whether its been personal or professional has taught me so much and has helped me build a ton of resilience.

At Silken Aesthetics, we believe in empowering every client to feel confident in their skin. Our boutique skin and hair removal spa is dedicated to helping clients feel confident in their skin through expert care, honest guidance, and real relationships.
What truly sets Silken apart is the clients that we have and the relationships we build. Many of our clients have been with us for almost a decade, trusting us through different seasons of their lives. We don’t rush people in and out, we get to know them, their skin, their goals, and what makes them feel confident. That connection truly matters to us and its what I belive coming here so special.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is my team. Watching them evolve personally, professionally, and financially is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
I want them to know they don’t need a four-year degree to build a successful career or create a great life. What they do need is belief in themselves, discipline, and the willingness to push past their limits.
Personal development is incredibly important to me, and I try to lead by example. I encourage my team to think bigger, invest in their mindset, and build lives they’re proud of. And when they grow as individuals, they perform better, and our clients feel that. Better team, better service, happier clients!
